— Anderson, to Gehrman Sparrow on Lord of Mysteries, Chapter 672 |
Anderson is a curious and adventurous hunter. He is also very adaptive in any situation. He enjoys learning about new things and experiencing novel forms of excitement. He is very good at provoking people naturally, even if he doesn't say anything provocative.
According to Danitz, Anderson's reputation in the Fog Sea is terrible. He’s the kind of person who smiles on the surface but will stab you in the back once you turn around. He's often pursued by a bunch of pirates, but in the end, all of those pirates would end up as bounty rewards.[2]
Background[]
He was born in Segar and went to study abroad at Lenburg. Anderson was once Edwina Edwards's schoolmate at the Church of the God of Knowledge and Wisdom.[3] Later, because he failed an exam repeatedly, he was driven out of school. He still retains a certain connection with the Church of the God of Knowledge and Wisdom.[4]
History[]
Lord of Mysteries[]
Volume 3: Traveler[]
Klein first met Anderson in the shared dream at the Sea of Ruins.[1]
Anderson had joined an expedition in the Sea of Ruins. He and the treasure-hunting team found many relics, hunted some monsters and obtained several ingredients. They later discovered a strange temple on a submerged island. Anderson found there a sinister mural related to one of the Kings of Angels, Tail Devourer Ouroboros. After that, he and the treasure-hunting team were plagued with bad luck; some of them mutated into monsters and killed their companions. When Anderson and the rest managed to kill those monsters, their ship sank. Only Anderson successfully swam to the shore of the island and survived. Later, when the Future led by Cattleya docked on the island, Anderson asked for permission to board in order to leave the area.[5]
He left the Future on Toscarter Island together with Gehrman Sparrow and, because of his misfortune, almost choked to death while drinking water. He immediately asked Gehrman for a way to resolve it.[6] Along the way to leave the island, Anderson accidentally offended a demigod of the Visionary Pathway and received some tasks from him as a result.[7]
After his luck was returned to normal by Ricciardo, he almost died again at the hand of Reinette Tinekerr.[8] He followed Gehrman to board the Golden Dream in order to rescue Edwina who had accidentally entered Groselle's Travels. After his escape from the book, he acquired the Sealed Artifact Black Glove formed from Mobet Zoroast's Beyonder Characteristic.
Volume 4: Undying[]
After he parted ways with Gehrman Sparrow, he came under the hypnosis of Adam and was used as a bait for the Evil Spirit Sauron-Einhorn-Medici that resided inside Ince Zangwill. This was to bring Ince Zangwill and 0-08 directly to Adam.[9][10]
Danitz Dubois met him in Behrens Harbor, after he was ordered by Gerhman Sparrow to investigate the local politics of the Southern Continent.[11] This was where the revenge fight against Ince Zangwill took place.
Volume 5: Red Priest[]
After Klein's revenge fight, Anderson hung out with Danitz while still having a Sequence 4 Beyonder Characteristic of the Red Priest Pathway inside his stomach.[12] He said that since it would cause mutations if left alone, it should be treated either by the purging from an Unshadowed of the Sun Pathway (with the risk of lowering one's Sequence level), or by advancing to Sequence 4 Iron-blooded Knight, consuming the Beyonder Characteristic in the process.[13] Gehrman Sparrow promised him the Sequence 4 Iron-blooded Knight formula via Danitz if he could find the whereabouts of Vice Admiral Ailment Tracy and also helped Danitz advance to Sequence 6 Conspirer.[14][15]
Volume 6: Lightseeker[]
After his task was completed, he returned to Lenburg in order to perform his Sequence 4 advancement ritual.[16]
He was last seen performing his Sequence 4 advancement ritual in Lenburg. However his fellow teammates had sold him out to the leaders of the Intis Republic's side, thus he was provoking and fighting them. This was during the fight between the Eternal Blazing Sun and the God of Knowledge and Wisdom.[17]
Circle of Inevitability[]
Volume 6: Dream Weaver[]
He appears as himself in The Fool's Dream under his real name teaching in the Dream Tutoring Classes. This version has a occupation as a painter. At night, his form is controlled by Mute Anderson, his dream image that was corrupted by the High-Dimensional Overseer.
Equipment[]
- Judge Button (Former): He gave this to Cattleya as the payment to board her ship to leave the Sea of Ruins.
- Death Brachydont: A pitch-black sword. Its power resembles the Red Priest Pathway.[18]
- A Black-Glove: A glove created from Mobet Zoroast's Beyonder characteristic. Its power resembles the Error Pathway's sequence 5 Dream Stealer.[11]
Trivia[]
- He is very good at drawing. Before becoming a hunter, his dream was to be an artist.[4]
- In Klein's Utopia, there was a handsome but mute painter named Anderson, who was likely inspired by Anderson Hood.[19]
- He is a former member of the Iron and Blood Cross Order.[20]
- After a near death experience at the hands of Reinette Tinekerr, Anderson developed a certain fear towards "Her". Thus, every time there's a possibility of meeting "Her", he would always hide first so that he wouldn't have to meet "Her".
- In the side story "In Modern Day," Anderson Hood is the foreign language teacher at the "Dream Tutoring Classes" opened by Director Ai's granddaughter. He’s proficient in at least ten languages, including Mauritian Creole, and is also skilled in painting. Initially, he originally came to China to learn banter, claiming that he’s proficient in all kinds of things. His only flaw is he talks too much.[21]
- The title Strongest Hunter of the Fog Sea was now disputed, with Louis Berry having quite a few supporters.[22]
