Some people are… special. They are born with some strange ability. I think I am someone like that.

— Azik to Klein Moretti
on Lord of Mysteries, Chapter 112

A former lecturer at Klein's alma mater. A mysterious man with amnesia and unknown supernatural abilities. He is currently on a journey to recover his memories.

Klein originally believed him to be a mid-sequence Beyonder, however, it has since then been revealed that Azik has been a sequence 2 Death Consul of the Death Pathway since the fourth epoch and is a descendant of Death.

Multiple people believe him to be a part of the Tarot Club, due to the multiple times he helped Klein.

Appearance[]

Bronze skin, average height and build, black hair, brown eyes, and gentle facial features. Being in his presence brought on an indescribable feeling, as though you could see in the man's eyes that he had been through the vicissitudes of life. Under his right ear was a tiny mole that one wouldn't notice unless closely examined.

Death Consul Azik: Unlike the normal Mr. Azik, his gaze was cold. He wore a deep black robe embroidered with golden threads. He wore a golden bird-shaped crown, as though he was looking down on all living creatures.[2]

Personality[]

From the original Klein’s impression of Mr. Azik, he is a dependable and trustworthy person. He had never once said anything baseless. Even if he was always quarreling with Mentor, it was limited to academic topics, and each of them had their reasons.[3]

Azik Eggers has an easygoing personality and is, in general, a very kind and gentle person. He has never refused to help Klein when asked. All the previous experiences during his memory loss: living as a normal human, getting married and having children, have changed him into a gentle person.

However, it has been stated by Katarina Pelle that before he lost his memories, as the Death Consul, he was an extremely cold and ruthless person.[4]

Background[]

Azik Eggers was a Sequence 2 Angel in the fourth epoch. He is the son of Death, Salinger, and used to be the emperor of the Balam Empire. His earliest memory traces back to the War of Four Emperors. He had once looked up at the Black Emperor and Blood Emperor, and lost consciousness when the Blood Emperor looked at him.[5]

He later fought the Saints and Angels of the Church of the Evernight Goddess together with Katarina Pelle in the Pale Death era. The last time they met was 1,300 years ago.[6]

At the last moment before dying, his father, Death, pulled Azik's soul out of his body and divided it into two halves. The first half was fused with the Uniqueness of the Death pathway and became the main subject of the "Artificial Death" plan, which was started and operated by the Numinous Episcopate. The second half of Azik's soul was fused with a golden, bird-shaped ornament and returned to Azik's body. Due to the fact that Azik's soul isn't complete, he has been repeatedly dying and resurrecting while losing his memories every 60 years. When two parts of Azik's soul come together again, Death will revive from Azik's body.[7]

During every cycle of memory loss, Azik would slowly rediscover his memories. However, during past cycles, he was never fast enough to discover the source of his amnesia, and subsequently a solution. In his first cycle, he joined the Loen Kingdom's army, became a knight, and fought in the chaos of the Fourth Epoch’s wake in the Northern Continent.[8] He eventually became the first Baron Lamud.[9]

Although Azik had been pursued by the Church of the Evernight Goddess' High-Sequence Beyonders, he had ultimately never suffered any real threats. Klein speculated that this is because the Evernight Goddess had been waiting for the development regarding Artificial Death.[10]

Equipment[]

Contracted Messenger[]

The contracted creature that belongs to Azik Eggers. The summoning incantation is unknown. Klein summons it via a copper whistle given by Azik.[11]

They are blurry white skeleton and there were dark flames glowing in its eye sockets. They were almost four meters tall. According to Azik, he has a collection of similar messengers, the exact number of which he himself is unsure of.[13]

It sounds like there’s an army of such powerful and humongous messengers?
