This article contains MAJOR SPOILERS relating to some of the most pivotal parts of the "Circle of Inevitability".

The Celestial Master is a powerful figure of the Western Continent who follows the Dao System. "He" holds authority over the Demon of Knowledge group pathways and is connected to their Sefirah, the Knowledge Moor.

Terminology[]

The term Celestial Master denotes a leader of Daoism, which essentially means a teacher who comprehends the world's operating laws and spreads that knowledge. Celestial Masters can be compared to leaders like pontiffs, popes, chief shepherds, and matriarchs, with different titles depending on the denomination. Franca and Lumian believe that a Celestial Master and an Underworld Daoist are on a similar level.[1]

Appearance[]

A figure composed of countless ethereal, transparent entities. Wearing a traditional high headdress and blue robe. "He" wields a brown rod adorned with numerous white silk strands at one end, resembling a horsetail whisk. "His" handsome face is like flawless jade, though eyes betrayed profound sorrow and pain, lending "Him" a withered appearance.[2][3]

History[]

The Armored Shadow was once granted the title of the God of Ghost Suppression by the Celestial Master. Through this role, he gained the corresponding powers to suppress evil spirits.[1]

After using the Eye of Truth in Fourth Epoch Trier in September 1358 of the Fifth Epoch, Lumian witnessed several visions of fragments of civilization that gradually eroded his rationality. At that moment, he heard a sigh and saw the Celestial Master looking at him. As the sigh persisted, the myriad sounds and images Lumian perceived vanished, replaced by overlapping shrill cries akin to curses. While Lumian couldn't comprehend the language, the phrase echoed in his mind, infused with the purest knowledge, enabling him to grasp its meaning. The voices converged into a torrent, laden with resentment and hatred: “Celestial Master!”[2]

By late Fall 1358, Franca believes that the Celestial Master is part of her world, and that the fragments of civilization Lumian saw are the true history concealed beneath the surface of her world. She and Lumian believe that the Celestial Master is attempting to interfere and breach into this world, wielding significant influence over the Demon of Knowledge group's pathways, much like the way The Celestial Worthy of Heaven and Earth affects the Lord of Mysteries group's pathways.[4]

During the Tarot Club's operation of Hunting Hidden Sage, the Celestial Master was able to use Professor, Periodic Table and Prototype as a medium to locate the Hidden Sage and helped The Fool lock onto the target.[5]

Later, the Celestial Master loosened the barrier separating the blood-coloured sea from the rest of the mirror world, allowing Lumian to face the Malevolent Dragon. The Celestial Master, the Underworld Daoist, the Holy Monk, the Master of the Shadow Cottage, and the Celestial Thearch joined force to aid Lumian Lee fighting against the Malevolent Dragon in the City of Calamity. Since beings of "His" level could not directly intervene, "They" used preexisting seals to restrict and weaken the Malevolent Dragon.[3]

When the fight against the Outer Deities first started, the God of Steam and Machinery acknowledged the Celestial Master as "His" master and agreed to become part of the "Three Sovereigns Calamity Dispelling Formation". This allowed the Celestial Master to use the God of Steam and Machinery's power and integrate with the Knowledge Moor briefly. However, since both the Celestial Master and the God of Steam and Machinery still lacked time, this could only bring "Them" close to the Knowledge Moor, not fully integrate into it to create a temporary Demon of Knowledge.[6]
