Chanis Gate named after the creator of the modern Nighthawks system, Archbishop Chanis. Its equivalent in the Church of the Lord of Storms is the Azure Gate.

It is located under the central Church of the Evernight Goddess of every major city. Always guarded by formal Nighthawk members on rotation. Inside, there are at least two Keepers who are sent by the Church and countless traps.

There has the core seal behind Chanis Gate. During the Keeper’s watch over the years, they are constantly corroded by the core seal’s powers. In a certain sense, they are a part of it, or they bear the weight of the corresponding traits. Once any abnormalities happen, their bodies will immediately intervene.

Appearance[]

The gate is a black iron split gate carved with seven sacred emblems. It stood there, heavy, cold and domineering, like a giant guarding in the darkness.[1]

The area inside is divided into various zones. Stored within are certain potion formulas, spiritual and Beyonder materials as well as Sealed Artifacts. It is also used to temporarily hold heretics, mutants, cultists, and members of secret organizations.[2]

Defensive Mechanisms[]

The power behind the gate is strongest at night and no longer safe for any living creature, including the Keepers who would then leave the gate before the sun fully sets.

As part of the defensive mechanisms, Chanis Gates are placed in the central cathedral of each city, with their nexus formations siphoning a portion of the churchgoers' spirituality through sincere prayers to maintain the gate constantly.[3]

Another defensive mechanism is using Sealed Artifacts to suppress or counteract one another, such as Saint Selena's ashes being buried inside the Chanis gate in Tingen or 0-17 being sealed through the combination of 1-29 and 1-80.[4]
