Chernobyl is the mysterious place in the Forsaken Land of the Gods where the Ancient Sun God awakened. It is also the name of a city situated in Ukraine in real-life earth, known for the nuclear reactor disaster; it is likely to be the same place in Lord of the Mysteries's world.

Chernobyl is located at the bottom of a deep valley in the Forsaken Land of the Gods. Inside Chernobyl is a cliff that leads to the Chaos Sea, where the Ancient Sun God awakened and climbed out. Klein once saw in his dream divination on the Unshadowed Crucifix, that the Ancient Sun God was walking in this place. "He" said "Let there be light!", and the light shone upon this place.

Based on the materials found inside the building, Chernobyl was a research institute studying the reason why a once-dried oilfield started to produce crude oil again. They discovered something deep inside the field, and people started to turn into crude oil. There is a voice calling from the underground.

…More and more people have turned into oil. This research facility has been sealed from the outside… No one can leave. No one can leave…

Appearance

A building with grayish-white architecture is located there, with layers after layers of the "grayish-white" matter. Through the Sefirah Castle, Klein could see nothing but void inside the building. After many attempts of Door Opening with the Door Pathway ability, Klein could see an iron gate and two guns that looked like they’re from sci-fi. There are many traces of black matter on the ground.

Further inside the building leads to a cliff. This part of the building seems to collapse into the underground. The other side is the darkness that can not be lit by lamps.
