The Church of the God of Combat was founded in the Third Epoch by the God of Combat. It was one of the 6 Orthodox Churches which helped humanity through the Cataclysmic Era. At the start of the story it was one of the 7 Orthodox Churches. This organization is in control of the Twilight Giant Pathway.

It is the state religion of the Feysac Empire. No other religions are allowed to proselytize there.

After The Apocalypse, the Church of the God of Combat merges with the Church of the Evernight Goddess and the Church of the Death to form the Church of the Eternal Darkness.[2]

Description[]

The Church of the God of Combat has the complete formulas of the Twilight Giant Pathway, and the incomplete ones of the Death and Darkness Pathway. It is one of the earliest secret organizations preaching in Feysac.[3]

The Sacred Emblem of the God of Combat was made from the combination of the symbol for dusk and a sword-shaped symbol.[4][3]

Characteristics[]

The Church of the God of Combat's members are prominently male, and they discourage females and gender equality.[5] The church hasn't had good relations with the Church of the Evernight Goddess since its foundation.[6][7][8] Unlike the Church of the Evernight Goddess, their clergymen are not prohibited from excessive drinking.[9]

History[]

The church was founded by the God of Combat. The main believer base of this church is in the Feysac Empire. The church's headquarters is the Great Twilight Hall.[Note 1] It is located outside the city of St. Millom, the capital of the Feysac Empire. Its architecture is based on the Giant King's Court.[12]

After the year 642, the church expanded its domain when the Feysac Empire acquired Sonia Island. The church once supported the Resistance in the Rorsted Archipelago, which was one of the colonies of the Loen Kingdom.[13]

After the God of Combat found out that the Evernight Goddess had acquired the Death Pathway's Uniqueness around the Summer of 1350, "He" mobilized "His" believers and the Beyonders under "His" control to start a conflict with the Loen Kingdom.

During Fall 1350, the church along with the Feysac Empire attacked Backlund, provoking the Loen Kingdom to declare war against the Feysac Empire.[14] The God of Combat intended to destabilize the anchors of the Evernight Goddess, in order to weaken "Her".

In Spring 1352, when the war had escalated further, a Battle of Gods took place above Backlund.[15][16][17] The God of Combat along with the Earth Mother invaded the divine kingdom of the Evernight Goddess, Tenebrous Heaven, and attacked the Evernight Goddess.[18] However, "He" was betrayed by the Earth Mother who was secretly Lilith in disguise, resulting in "His" fall. The churches and the military of both sides were ordered to stop the battle and retreat.[19]

The church was subsequently taken over by the Church of the Evernight Goddess.[20] The Evernight Goddess decided to spare Beyonders of the Church of God of Combat and the Feysac Empire, and only kill those who were extremely loyal. They did not advertise the death of the God of Combat.[21] The Chief Shepherd Larrion decided to destroy all the corresponding information of Sealed Artifacts in the church and ran away with 0-02. "He" was later confronted by Arianna and Klein in Belltaine City. He managed to flee but it is unknown if he survived.[22]

During the five to six years after 1352, while the church remains the primary controller of the Twilight Giant Pathway, numerous Beyonders and Beyonder creatures of that pathway have appeared in various countries outside the Feysac Empire.[23] The God of Combat Church was the only state religion of the Feysac Empire, but following their defeat in the war a few years ago, the Evernight Goddess Church had gained a certain right to preach within the empire, although they seemed unenthusiastic about this role.[1]

With The Apocalypse and the rise of the new Eternal Darkness, the Church merged with the Church of the Evernight Goddess and the Death to form the Church of the Eternal Darkness.[2]

Trivia[]

  • The Great Twilight Hall was officially known as the former residence of the Giant King Aurmir.[24]
  • The square at the bottom of the Great Twilight Hall is filled with the fragrance of alcohol.[25]
  • Klein suspected that the church had an alternative ritual for the promotion to Sequence 3, Silver Knight, if it really needs to hunt demigod creatures, and that this may be due to the difference between the First and Second Blasphemy Slates.[26] In fact, the difference between the two is that the Second has the formulas of Above the Sequences.
