God said to let those who wish to be strong, be strong.

— Steam and Machinery Bible
on Lord of Mysteries, Chapter 436

The Church of the God of Steam and Machinery was officially founded in the late Fourth Epoch.

This organization is in control of the Paragon Pathway and is one of the Eight Orthodox Churches. Along with the Church of the Eternal Blazing Sun, they are influential throughout the Intis Republic. The Church is also one of the main religions in the Loen Kingdom, along with the Church of the Evernight Goddess and the Church of the Lord of Storms, but after the World War of the Fifth Epoch, their influence in the kingdom was limited because they were on the Intis side that lost the war.

Among the Seven Orthodox Churches (before 1352), the Church of the God of Steam and Machinery wields the least number of Sealed Artifacts which are also relatively less dangerous.

The Church's scriptures lacked any mention of animosity between orthodox gods, unlike the Church of the Eternal Blazing Sun, the Church of the Lord of Storms and the Church of the God of Knowledge and Wisdom, which perpetually preached hatred toward each other.[2]

The symbol of the Church of the God of Steam and Machinery is the Triangular Sacred Emblem. It is a solid triangle filled with symbols such as steam, gears, and levers.

Their prayer gesture is to draw the Triangular Sacred Emblem on their chest.[3]

History[]

The Church of the God of Steam and Machinery was founded in the late Fourth Epoch after the birth of the God of Steam and Machinery, originally known as the God of Craftsmanship. It was renamed in the Fifth Epoch after the industrial revolution was launched by the Great Roselle Gustav, who was personally sent down a sacred commandment by God to change the title from God of Craftsmanship to God of Steam and Machinery.

The main domain of this church is in the Intis Republic, along with the Church of the Eternal Blazing Sun. They were also one of the main religions in the Loen Kingdom, along with the Church of the Evernight Goddess and the Church of the Lord of Storms.

Starting in 1194, after Roselle discovered a new safer sea route to the Southern Continent, this discovery jumpstarted the colonization of the Southern Continent, and the Orthodox Churches began to spread their influence there. The church, along with the Church of the Eternal Blazing Sun, has domains in West Balam and the Highlands Kingdom.

In the World War, the Church of the God of Steam and Machinery was on the Intis Republic's side. Eventually, the Loen Kingdom won the war, and the Church was expelled from Loen as a result. They can still preach there like the Church of the Earth Mother, but they had to bring all their Sealed Artifacts from grade 2 and above, as well as high sequence Beyonders out of the kingdom within the time limit. In the future, they could only maintain a small number of cathedrals, just like the Church of the Earth Mother in Loen.

If it weren’t for the fact that there were too many people who believed in the God of Steam and Machinery, and some of them being key figures in the reconstruction efforts after the war, the church might not have been able to retain such treatment. Similarly, a smaller number of cathedrals only required a small number of Machinery Hivemind members.[1]

With the withdrawal of the church's top members, there has been a shortage of official Beyonders in Loen. Although the Church of the Evernight Goddess and the Church of the Lord of Storms have also recruited a group of Machinery Hivemind members who don’t wish to leave Loen, and the lower-ranking clergymen, they are ultimately just a minority.[4]

Subsequently, The Church's influence in the Highland Kingdom and West Balam weakened, and other churches took advantage of the opportunity to expand their reach there.[5][6]

After The Apocalypse, among the remaining orthodox churches, only the Church of the God of Steam and Machinery maintained its former influence. The Churches of the Eternal Blazing Sun, Lord of Storms, Earth Mother, and the God of Knowledge and Wisdom still existed but had become secondary choices with limited influence.[7]

Characteristics[]

The Church of the God of Steam and Machinery's cathedrals have intricate machinery[8] and will emit an iron-black chimney to form their Guardian Angel from smoke in case of emergency.

The Church of the God of Steam and Machinery values marriage,[9] regarding gender equality, the Church is neutral and has even worked with the Church of the Evernight Goddess to encourage women to head out for work due to the need for more labour in the development of the industry.[10]

The Church's clergyman's attire is a white apron wrapped around their waist, a typical garment worn by ancient stonemasons, and a robe with a hood.[11]

Fanatical devotion to machinery was their hallmark. They don't hesitate to mechanize a quarter of their body to an excessive extent.[12][13]

Their fighting style consists of using powerful Beyonder weapons and sealed artifacts due to the church's abundance of Artisans and other craftsmen.

Trivia[]

  • The Church of the God of Steam and Machinery kept the machine manuscripts left behind by Roselle Gustav.[15]
  • Inspired by the stealth boats capable of navigating the depths of the ocean unseen that Admiral Deep Sea Howl Constantine discovered, the Church of the God of Steam and Machinery had attempted to develop their own undersea fleet. However, they failed to mass produce them. Due to the reliance on higher Sequence Beyonders, only one or two of these vessels could be assigned to each Intisian fleet, each serving specialized functions.[16]
