The City of Calamity (灾祸之城, Zāihuò Zhī Chéng) is one of the nine Sefirot on Earth, a legacy left behind by the Original Creator and originally owned by the Malevolent Dragon. It is one of two Sefirot possessed by the Fourth Pillar, a hidden Pillar formed passively upon the point when "the end of the universe" arrives.[1]

It corresponds to the Calamity of Destruction group.

Appearance[]

The vast metropolis composed of two intersecting timelines. It appears as an infinitely large or infinitely small version of Pre-Epoch Shanghai from the Cultural Revolution. Its wide streets are filled with trackless trams, yellow rickshaws dragging bloated women, and occasional black automobiles, surrounded by multi-story buildings in various architectural styles. Populated by cultivators from different sects of the Western Continent. It was accompanied by an image of corrupted citizens. Some of the figures were distorted into a single head dragging a bloody spine; others were well-dressed but headless; and others were swollen, with their features obscured.[2][3][4]

Dragon Lock Tower[]

Gathered the world's might, halved the ranks of the brave, binding the malevolent dragon here, quelling the calamity it gave.

on Circle of Inevitability, Chapter 1079

An oddly shaped wooden temple surrounded by a yellow wall. Its double doors are guarded by multiple cultivators to keep strangers away from the shrine's entrance. The first floor is spacious, with towering columns and a stone staircase, illuminated by sunlight filtering through its thin paper windows. Beneath this on its lowest floor lies an ancient well, where the malevolent dragon is sealed.[3][5]

Black iron chains extend from stone blocks to the depth of that well, engraved with demonic entities. Some of them were cultivators who voluntarily transformed themselves to bind the dragon. They willingly accepted eternal torment, choosing to descend into demonic hell to ensure the dragon remained imprisoned. Empowered by the River of Eternal Darkness and controlled by the Haoli sect's sect master, these demons could partially resist the dragon's powers.[5][4]

The bottom of the well has blood-like liquid - entrance to the sea of blood stanched with rust and filled with corpses. The mirror world corresponds to the place where the dragon was sealed. Dragon's shadow appears at the bottom of this sea, occupying an area comparable to the size of Trier. Before this shadow was a square several tens of kilometres wide and long, paved with greyish-white stones, with towering pillars of black, blood-red, and grey-white supporting an invisible barrier, preventing the blood-red sea from invading. At this square stands a full-length mirror connected to Blue Avenger's treasure vault.[5]

History[]

During the early-mid stages of the First Epoch, the Primordial God Almighty accommodated the City of Calamity. This left "His" consciousness and psyche in the Sefirah after "His" death.[6][7] Since "He" also accommodated the Tenebrous World, the two Sefirot have mutually corrupted each other.[8]

After the Primordial God Almighty and The Celestial Worthy of Heaven and Earth's death at the hands of each other, the City of Calamity was sealed in the Western Continent by the Celestial Worthy along with 6 other Sefirot.[9]

Klein said the city behind Bansy Harbor's door look like the former Shanghai during the Cultural Revolution.[9]

As time goes by, the seal of the Western Continent gradually weakens. Due to the Law of Convergence, they use the Uniqueness and High-Sequence characteristics within their own symbolic range to erode them indirectly and affect the outside world,[9] reflecting the city behind the door of Bansy Harbor.[10]

The Malevolent Dragon came into being as an incomplete Origins of Disaster of the Sefirah after the Sefirah was sealed on the Western Continent. Many top leaders in Daoism assisted to seal it in the Dragon Lock Tower over the epochs with the help of the other Sefirot, until the next Calamity of Destruction arrived in the City of Calamity. Lumian ended the Dragon and become an Above the Sequence at the end of July 1360 in the Fifth Epoch.[11]

Powers & Abilities[]

At Sequence 2[]

  • Upon becoming a Sequence 2: Weather Warlock, if a Red Priest Beyonder has a connection to the City of Calamity, "They" can draw power from the City of Calamity to turn "Their" flames from a violet-tinged azure color to a violet tinged with a blood-red hue color.[12]
