Destruction of the Village

We need help as soon as possible. The people around us are getting weirder.

on Circle of Inevitability, Chapter 20

According to the investigation report[1], there have been several cases of people going missing around the borders of Intis in the past year. The shepherds who migrated to the area were viewed as suspects and had come under official attention. When Cordu Village called for help, a joint task force was sent to investigate. However, upon arrival, the entire village had already been destroyed. Four bodies were discovered in the cemetery, those of Ava Lizier, Reimund Greg, Naroka, and Jean Maury, who were presumed to have been murdered for uncovering Guillaume Bénet's conspiracy.

On April 9th, 1358, Guillaume Bénet and his companions performed a grand sacrificial ritual to the Circle of Inevitability, but it was unsuccessful. The terrain around the village changed to a blood-colored mountain, with the village houses becoming ruins that formed a strange thorny city wall around the mountain. The villagers had become nutrients for a failed creation of an evil god, forming into the Three-Headed Giant above the mountain, while the rest had been transformed into various monsters.

Out of the villagers, only six had survived: Lumian Lee, Madame Pualis, Béost, Cathy, Louis Lund, and Guillaume Bénet.

Lore[]

The Legend of the Warlock[]

The Warlock lived in Cordu Village, but before his passing, no one knew of his true identity. He acted perfectly normal. Suddenly, he died and an owl flew over.

On the day of his burial, nine bulls were gathered to pull the coffin to the cemetery beside the cathedral. The padre performed a ritual to purify it. Eventually, the Warlock's body was cremated and the remains were buried in a grave. The padre and a few others ransacked his house and burned it to the ground. For two or three decades, no one dared to approach the site until Aurore Lee came and purchased the land to rebuild the house.[2]

It was later revealed that there had never been a legend of a warlock in Cordu Village.[1]
