“ | Heh heh, don’t rely on divination, divination isn’t all-powerful. You’ll only obtain symbolic signs which are very easy to interpret them wrongly or ignore something. |

— Old Neil to Klein Moretti on Lord of Mysteries, Chapter 126 |
Divination is the act of seeking knowledge about the future or the unknown through supernatural means.
Introduction[]
The core concept of divination is that every individual has a spiritual aspect that allows them to connect with the spiritual world and attain information about themselves at a higher level.[1] However, the divination isn’t all-powerful. The signs obtained through divination are often symbolic and can be misinterpreted or overlooked, leading to incorrect or incomplete information.[2]
For ordinary people who are unaware of their spiritual, and may not be able to interpret the signs they receive accurately. Therefore, divination tools, such as tarot cards, mirror, and pendulums, can aid in the interpretation of these signs, allow them to access and understand the messages presented to them.[1]
According to Klein, Divination can be effective as long as it doesn’t involve powers two or three Sequences above the user.[3]
Methods of divination[]
The various kinds of divination arts could be split into three categories based on particular standards, and that standard was based on the source of the revelation.
Own Spirituality Method[]
The first category of divination included tarot, poker, pendulums, dowsing canes, and dreams. Using the inquirer’s own spirituality and its communication with the spirit world to gain a revelation, could be interpreted as an answer. However, spirit pendulums and dowsing canes had very high requirements of one’s spirituality, Spirit Body, and Astral Projection. Non-Beyonders are unable to obtain precise or clear revelations. Card divination provides a fixed symbolism, presenting even an average person’s faint revelation. Dreams were somewhere in between the other forms.[4]
Tarotmancy[]
“ | Would you like to try a divination? My tarot divination is very accurate. |

— Animal Trainer to Klein Moretti on Lord of Mysteries, Chapter 4 |
Tarotmancy or Tarot Card reading is a type of divination as part of tarot card interpretation—three cards when opened sequentially symbolized one’s past, present, and future.[5]
Spirit Pendulum Divination[]

Klein's topaz pendulum
It’s also called Spirit Dowsing. It relies on Astral Projection’s connection with the Spirit World and space to communicate with spiritual intelligence through the aid of natural materials such as crystals, gems, or special metals.
It requires the use of the non-dominant hand to hold the pendulum chain. Then, the diviner closes their eyes and repeats the sentence seven times in their mind. Then see if the spirit pendulum turns or not. A counterclockwise motion implies bad, while a clockwise motion is good. It can also be interpreted as success or failure.[6]
Dowsing Rod Seeking[]
Divination in attempts to locate a target. It requires two dowsing rods. Dowsing rods are shaped like two straight metal wires tapered to an edge. The tool of choice has to be wooden, metallic, or a mixture of both. The dowser would hold on to the shorter side and turn it to ascertain the correct direction. Although some dowsers use other equipment or no equipment at all.[7]
Dream Divination[]
Repeat the question seven times, remember the details, and then enter a state of Cogitation, allowing the Astral Projection to roam the Spirit World in a dream would allow the diviner to gain revelations.[8]
Spirit Numerology and Astromancy Method[]
The second category included Spirit Numerology and astromancy, as well as their derived forms. The fortune-teller uses either the personal details of the inquirer, or changes in nature before using calculations, inference, and interpretation to answer their questions. With this method, the initiative did not lie in the inquirer, but the fortune-teller.[4] Evernight Goddess possesses the Path Number 7.[9]
Astrolobe Divination[]
Astrolabe divination was one of the astromancy divination methods. However, ordinary people could also attempt to interpret things. For instance, the most basic birth horoscope was to determine the inquirer’s fate by determining the positions of the sun, moon, blue and red stars at their birth, the corresponding spots in the sky, matching the representative symbols to the astrolabe, and the corresponding situations of the different constellations.
This required the fortune-teller to be able to calculate the states of the planets and constellations, which is rather complicated. Of course, there are publications that aided people to look up the values. Some even simplified it by making a vague read with just the constellations.[10]
Third-Party Method[]
The third category used an external third party, separate from the inquirer and the fortune-teller. They used rituals to ask for a direct answer from the unknown or the supernatural. Even though there was a high chance that an average person would not succeed, there were cases where they managed to communicate with malicious spirits or entities that drove them to insanity. These methods of divination usually lead to tragedies. The magic mirror divination belong to this category.[4]
Magic Mirror Divination[]
It allows the performer to receive a revelation from a third party through a mirror. Klein noted that this kind of divination is extremely advantageous for the third party. There's almost no price to be paid to connect to the real world. If he wishes, he could even torn out of the mirror with his Spirit Body form! But to the user, it's indeed dangerous. They will appear under the "sights" of an unknown existence without any protection. From there, they can be possessed, controlled, cursed, and corrupted...[11]
There was a safe way to do the magic mirror divination; one could ask for answers from the seven orthodox divinities. Even if it was very difficult for an ordinary person to receive any real revelations, they would not be in any danger or suffer any after-effects.
The magic mirror divinations that were strictly controlled by the officials like Nighthawks and Mandated Punishers were those that asked evil gods or mysterious existences for help. Furthermore, the fortune-teller couldn’t randomly fabricate things. Some phrases or qualities had the potential to invite the attention of unknown entities.[4]
In mysticism, mirrors were connected to the unknown and mystery, like they were the doors of the spiritual world.

- Starting at Sequence 9 Seer, they master all kinds of Divination methods, including astrology, cartomancy, spiritual pendulums, spiritual numbers, and scrying.[12]
- Door Pathway
- At Sequence 7 Astrologer, they can divine through stars and crystal balls.

- At Sequence 4 Prophet, they start learning and grasping arcane and mystic knowledge of a rather high level. It is their accumulated knowledge in this area that grants them the new ability "Prophecy" allowing them to perceive future events.[13]
- Hermit Pathway
- At Sequence 9 Mystery Pryer, they can use many Divination methods to gain revelations from the Spirit World, however, they are less effective in this matter than Seers.[14][15] At Sequence 3, Clairvoyant, they can pry into the secrets of the River of Fate to make a Prophecy.
- Wheel of Fortune Pathway
- At Sequence 8 Robot, they have the powers of divination and anti-divination.[16]
- Demoness Pathway
- At Sequence 7 Witch, they could use magic mirror divination.
- Eternal Aeon Pathway
- At Sequence 8 Alms Monk, they have the power to roughly sense the recent fortunes of others - good luck, bad luck, potential for disaster, romantic opportunities, and so on - but without discerning the precise details.[17] The luck they sensed included their own actions, making it harder to avoid inevitability.[18] They can also use a ritualistic spell, a corpse, and a prophetic concoction to ask three questions about the future.[17][19]
