— Padre Cali on Circle of Inevitability, Chapter 671 |
The Dream Festival is an annual mid-December festival held in the dreams of people living in Tizamo Town, West Balam.
It is a location of a River of Eternal Darkness distributary, as well as the tomb of Naboredisley. Therefore, the festival became a local event to reveal one's private side to the public or seek death, and for some Beyonders to acquire higher-level mystic resources. The main pathway groups that converged during the event were the Eternal Darkness and the Father of Devils groups.
Background[]
Special Dream[]
“ | So, the longer one stays in Tizamo, the more subdued they become. |

— Camus Castiya on Circle of Inevitability, Chapter 668 |
People who have lived in Tizamo Town for a long time often experience a phenomenon where suppressed emotions and desires manifest as projections in a special dream. These projections absorb the intense emotions of the town and give rise to the corresponding "Dream Person" which is even more extreme and emotional entities. Typically, they hide in the chaotic areas near the ancient tomb, alongside the gravekeepers, to protect it from outsiders.
When the Dream Festival begins, these projections return to their true forms, becoming complete participants who can no longer suppress their emotions and desires.[1] This phenomenon extends beyond humans to include their livestock as well.[2][3]
Ancient Tomb[]
The ancient tomb located in the primitive forest nearby Tizamo Town. There are elders of the forest tribe keep guarding on it.[1]
At a glance, it looked like a house-sized boulder, but upon closer inspection, one could see patterns on it. There were abnormal protrusions and depressions, and thread-like cracks that ordinary eyes couldn’t detect.[4]
During the Dream Festival, under the influence of the ancient tomb, this area has fragmented into multiple dream shards. Each time a new group arrives, a fresh fragment is generated.
Madam Magician later confirmed that Naboredisley was the Ancient God Farbauti's leftover Abomination corpse, sealed in the ancient black tomb.[5] Naboredisley has "His" Death Mask wearing Abomination corpse in an ancient tomb. It is a node that spreads a River of Eternal Darkness distributary.
History[]
Before the Story[]
For an extended period, residents of Tizamo unknowingly long participated as projections in the Dream Festival. Those who perish in the dream inevitably face irreversible death within the following three months. The primitive tribe in the forest orchestrated numerous attacks during this time, primarily targeting individuals who had died in the dreams. This ensured that their deaths in reality appeared reasonable and without suspicion, concealing any abnormalities.[6]
Lumian suspected that in the year 1352, during the commencement of the Dream Festival, Tupián family tried to replicate the actions of the gravekeepers who guard the ancient tomb and conduct a ritual. However, their attempt failed, resulting in the demise of the entire family. This event corrupted the house and established a subtle connection to the black ancient tomb. Hisoka Twanaku was the sole survivor who had become a Chained Pathway Beyonder after the fire incident.[7]
Year 1358 Dream Festival[]
In early December before the 1358 Dream Festival happened, Lumian Lee visited Tizamo Town with Ludwig and Lugano Toscano. He encountered the Patrol Team lead by Camus Castiya and supervised by Reaza. He then contacted his known Minor Arcana to group fight, profile and kill Hisoka, a member of April Fool's, and finally became a Conspirer.
In the dream[]
Lumian. Rhea and Camus found themselves inside the dream still having lucid consciousness realizing that the whole town began to cheer up and then heard the sound of the bell of the Cathedral of Saint Sien seeing Father Cali officially opening the festival of dreams.
Lumian realizing that everyone in town would enter the dream festival teleports to his hotel room to stop Ludwig, he finds him eating Lugano's arm, Lumian to “seal” Ludwig was systematically throwing ingredients full of spiritual energy, one after another, creating a barrier of tempting delicacies around Ludwig. Cream pancakes, fruit tarts, sandwiches overflowing with cream, bouchée à la reine, liqueur infused chocolates, cookies, candied plums, éclairs, Charlotte desserts and a myriad of other delicacies so that he would focus on these instead of Lugano taking Lugano with him to avoid possible anomalies.
Lugano somehow remained lucid in his sleep. After that it was decided that they should go to Hisoka's house to investigate, but Camus decides to go to Palm Manor to “rescue” Miss Amandina who was not there.
Once at Hisoka's house they find Miss Amandina who is also lucid because she received a blessing from the Darkness path, she explains that she received it once she touched a black stone (the tomb) to which her fiancé Robert took her.
It also mentions various information related to Hisoka such as that he vented his desires at the dream festival and that he killed and removed the organs of several people at the dream festival.
The 5 went to the cathedral to find a handful of naked men kneeling before the altar of the Eternal Burning Sun including Miss Amandina's fiancé, Robert and Father Cali, also naked, walking back and forth between Robert and the others with an excited expression, reciting teachings of the Eternal Burning Sun to the naked men.
After the festival began, they set off for the black ancient tomb at the center of the dream. On the way, he almost encountered Ludwig who was consumed by hunger. Feeling the terrible malice, he quickly left the area and went to his destination.
Rhea shoots an arrow towards Father Cali who had a wraith blessing thus starting a fight between them and Father Cali with Robert.
This provoking the death and interrogation of father Cali and thus learning that the black rock is a tomb and that the gravediggers protect that tomb as well as explaining a little of the workings of the dream.
Upon returning to the house of Hisoka Lumian did the dance of invocation, and with the help of Robert channeled a spirit giving with information, from that information Lumian decides to go to the tomb.
Various factions participated in this year's festival:
- Lumian Lee's investigation group: Their objectives include investigating last year's prank and finding Hisoka's gold.
- Numinous Episcopate (Royal faction): Their goal is the ancient tomb itself, particularly the golden mask that has endured the corresponding corrosion in the tomb for over a millennium.
- Temperance Faction: They aim to retrieve Miss Messenger’s heart.
- Nois Family and Rose School of Thought (Indulgence Faction): They desire Naboredisley’s corpse.
- Underworld Daoist: Their role is to guard the tomb.
