— Dunn Smith on Lord of Mysteries, Chapter 209 |
Dunn Smith was the captain of the Nighthawks, a division under the Church of the Evernight Goddess, in Tingen City diocese.
He was a Sequence 7 Beyonder of the Darkness Pathway but had power not too different from a Sequence 6.
Appearance[]
Dunn Smith looks to be a man in his thirties, with light brown hair, a straight nose, and sharp gray eyes. Klein Moretti described his eyes as "like a lake in an ancient forest that no one visited, giving him an indescribable sense of depth".[2] He also has an receding hairline despite his young age.
Personality[]
Dunn Smith is well-known for having a bad memory, often quickly forgetting unimportant matters. He had a mild personality and was experienced in his job. He was also kind, responsible, and always silently concerned about his team members. Later it was revealed that he dreamed of the many companions he had lost, hoping that they would all stay in his dreams.[3] As a Nightmare, he struggled to differentiate between reality and dreams.[4]
In the first volume of the series, his bad memory was the source of much humor. He was very reliable when it came to the task.
Relationships[]
He held special feelings for Daly, but was too shy to say it and felt inferior because Daly was younger and promoted very fast. He never had the chance to speak his love before his death.
History[]
He was the one who recruited Klein Moretti to join the Nighthawks.
Klein witnessed Dunn consume the blood of Kenley and thought it was a sign of him losing control.[5] Later Dunn told Klein about the ‘Law of Beyonder Characteristics Indestructibility’, and that consuming their Beyonder characteristics enhanced his own power.[3]
“ | I hoped to continue fighting with them, to continue dealing with the monsters in the darkness, to deal with the crazy heretics, to protect Tingen City with them. Thus, I chose to consume their remains. |
