I have a proverb from my hometown:
Don’t hate wild dogs that pass by just because of the rats in the storehouse.

— Elland Kag to White Shark
on Lord of Mysteries, Chapter 499

Elland Kag, also known as Just Elland, is the captain of the White Agate, a passenger ship.

History[]

He was once the boatswain of the Imperial Navy’s William V. Later, he left the fleet and secretly joined MI9. Now he uses his identity as a captain to monitor the sea routes.

He is a Sequence 8, Sheriff of the Justiciar Pathway.

Appearance[]

A middle-aged man wearing a thick dark red coat and white slacks. He wears the standard ship-shaped hat of this era. He has obvious wrinkles at the corners of his eyes, his forehead, and the corners of his mouth.[1]

History[]

In Damir Harbor, he helped Gehrman Sparrow pay White Shark’s compensation.[2]

When the White Agate encountered the Red Skull pirates en route, despite the pirates fleeing, Elland exercised caution by docking the White Agate at Bansy Harbor to report their encounter to both the Navy and the Church.[3] At Bansy Harbor, after Elland and his first mate finished sending their report to the Navy, they decided to visit the Storm Cathedral. Inside the cathedral, Elland stumbled upon a bloody scene.[4] He was rescued by Gehrman.[5]

Later, during the curfew in Bayam, he approached Gehrman and Danitz to recruit them for assistance in the military and Church's search efforts, aiming to prevent any potential accidents from occurring.[6]

He introduced Gehrman to Oz Kent, the military contact person in Bayam, facilitating their collaboration.[7]

Later, when Urdi Branch, the father of Donna and Denton, had a valuable shipment plundered by the Crazy Captain, Elland utilized his connections to assist Urdi in recovering the goods at a fair price.[8]
