Eternal Darkness (永恒之暗, Darkness of Eternity, Yǒnghéng zhī àn) is the title of the Great Old One of the Darkness, Death, and Twilight Giant Pathways.

The convergence of the Calamity of Destruction and the Eternal Darkness will form the Fourth Pillar. When the Fourth Pillar is born, the Monarch of Decay will be drawn in and become a part of the Fourth Pillar.

• Because of this, Pathways of the Eternal Darkness and the Calamity of Destruction groups are exchangeable. But in that case, there's no way to become a Great Old One, unless one can separate the Beyonder Characteristics from before.
• The Monarch of Decay can accommodate either the Calamity of Destruction or the Eternal Darkness, though "He" could only choose one. The vice versa also applies.

Beyonders of the Eternal Darkness group also need to contend with a mixture of the Celestial Worthy's mental imprint, because in the First Epoch, the Celestial Worthy had accommodated the River of Eternal Darkness and the Nation of Disorder.

Authorities & Symbolism

• "They" possess full authority over the Darkness, Death, and Twilight Giant Pathways and the corresponding symbolism, which includes but are not limited to the following:
  • Darkness: Authorities over Darkness, Horror, Spirit Body & Spirituality, Concealment, and Misfortune & Catastrophe. This pathway also symbolizes Silence and Eternal Darkness.
  • Death: Authority over Death, Pallor, Undead, Enslavement and the Endpoint. This pathway also symbolizes Death and Eternal Rest.
  • Twilight Giant: Authorities over Twilight, Holiness, Combat, and Proxy. This pathway also symbolizes Decay and Passage of Time.
• As a powerful existence of Destruction, "They" can kill another Great Old One in a short time.

Note: A Pathway having certain symbolism doesn't mean at the level of Above the Sequence that it entirely stems from that Pathway. It might stem from the entire group or certain parts from it.

The authorities above are derived from the following symbolisms:

• Darkness: The Eternal Darkness holds the symbolism of Darkness.
  • "They" can submerge the world in still and unchanging inky Darkness, making the already dark universe seem even more deathly.
    • Amanises had caused the dense, silent Darkness to spread outward in order to seek the formless Inextinguishable Ravings.
    • Amanises shrouded the star dominion in deeper Darkness, Concealing all information to prevent any leaks.
  • "They" can compel thoughts into Silence and induce Slumber.
    • "They" can put "Themselves" or "Their" allies into a state of Slumber. This can let "Their" thoughts, spirit, the madness within "Their" Sefirot, and complex and chaotic spirits such as those of the Dao Integrators fall into Stillness.
      • Amanises used this symbol on the Golden Buddha, allowing "Him" to stabilize after a Dao Integrator from within "Himself" had "His" Fate woven by the Goddess of Fate.
      • Amanises used this symbol on "Herself", the Golden Buddha, and the Pitch-Black Fiend to allow "Them" to escape the influence of the Inextinguishable Ravings.
      • Amanises used the Darkness symbol on Grisha Adam to delay the revival of the Primordial God Almighty within "Him".
    • "They" can use the symbolism of Darkness to force "Their" enemies to enter Slumber.
      • Amanises caused the River of Eternal Darkness to transform into denser Darkness that enveloped the area, forcing all three bodies of the Circle of Inevitability to close their eyes, entering a state of Sleep.

• Singularity of All: This is an aspect of Termination, but it is incomplete.
  • "They" can make sure that a Concealed target is either forgotten by every entity that knows them, causing such Concealed target to be thought as long dead, or, at worst, making the Concealed target to be completely forgotten, erasing them from both the Reality and the River of Fate.
  • "They" can shroud a Star Dominion in deeper Darkness, Concealing all information to prevent any leaks.

• Space-Time-in-One: "They" have the incomplete symbolism of Space-Time-in-One of the Fourth Pillar, which allows "Them" to converge Space and Time onto "Themselves" or towards a single point, thereby halting or delaying entities or events.
  • Amanises unleashed deep darkness like a river from the void, pulling Time and Space into "Herself" and merging them swiftly. This managed to halt the Circle of Inevitability's spinning, suspending "Him" like an insect trapped in amber, preventing "Him" from triggering a Loop node.
  • Amanises plunged an orange-red twilight greatsword into the darkness edge and into the void, causing the dense Darkness to contract, and the Flow of Time to slow, converging toward a single point which delayed the Fate of the Circle of Inevitability's Destined awakening, pushing it several seconds into the future.

• River of Eternal Darkness: "They" can control and manifest the River of Eternal Darkness, a straight, illusory dark river that heralds the stillness of fate and the proclamation of death.
  • The River of Eternal Darkness is a river that never Loops. It always moves forward. Even Death itself would dissipate within its currents.
    • The colorless, illusory river can submerge all Loop nodes from the Circle of Inevitability, causing them to instantaneously perish and vanish without taking effect.
  • "They" can combine the symbolisms of Twilight, Darkness, and Death, along with the River of Eternal Darkness, into a single attack capable of killing other Great Old Ones.
    • Amanises simultaneously struck at the five Great Old Dominators with "Her" terrifying dusk-orange greatsword and "Her" dark, bizarre scythe, while opening the book formed of coiled feathered serpents. Suddenly, Dusk was consumed by Darkness, Pallor faded into Eternal Rest, and Time and Space fell silent—as if they had been swept into that colorless, shadowy river. The straight river surged forward, aiming to carry the five Great Old Dominators to the ultimate stillness of Death. The final destination was tranquility.
  • Among the three Pathways of the River of Eternal Darkness:
    • Death is the Pathway that's closest to its essence.
    • Darkness is the Pathway that's the most similar to its exterior.
    • Twilight Giant is the Pathway that can slightly utilize it.

• Eternal Rest: Under the Eternal Darkness' existence, Eternal Rest would have a destination and even Time would have an Endpoint.
  • "Their" initial appointment as a Great Old One allows the previously wandering Souls on Earth in the Spirit World to finally have Eternal Rest in the River of Eternal Darkness.
    • However, without the Mother Goddess of Depravity's symbolism, the reincarnation cycle will not be complete.
  • The Eternal Darkness' existence is able to put plagues of undead and summoned corpses back to Eternal Rest once again.

• Death: The Eternal Darkness can invoke the symbolism of Death, even on other Great Old Ones, however it needs contact.
  • As the symbolic effect of symbolisms extends gradually and cannot be used to its fullest directly, with the instant effect being limited, this symbolism cannot cause the Death of Great Old Ones that have massive size instantly, such as the Supernova Dominator. The Eternal Darkness would need a period of time to cover the entire range of "His" body.
    • Essentially, this is Reality resisting and dissipating Mysticism, one of the lower manifestations of the Reality characteristics. For the Mother Goddess who wields the symbol of Reality, mechanism-wise, "She" is immune to the symbolism of Death.
  • The Eternal Darkness can declare the arrival of Death, which is a form of high-level Prophecy. It is not instant death, nor is it severe damage.
    • Amanises caused the strange book of coiled feathered serpents to flip open to a page displaying Monarch of Decay's name, invoking the Death symbolism on "Him".
    • Amanises prepared to manifest the name of Inextinguishable Ravings on the strange book of coiled feathered serpents in order to invoke the symbolism of Death on "Him".
  • "They" can make the Death of Avatars, Marionettes, Paper Figurine Substitutes, and other similar clones and stand-ins equate to the Death of the main body.

• Passage of Time: As long as "They" exist, one will age and grow weaker under the Passage of Time.
  • This is unless one reaches Sequence 0.
• Enslavement: "They" have the symbolism of Enslavement.
  • The Proxy authority of Twilight Giant stems from this symbolism.
• Decay: "They" have the symbolism of Decay.
• Light: "They" symbolize the contraction and collapse of Light.

Countering Symbolisms

Symbols of other Great Old Ones can counter some of "Their" symbols and powers, which include but are not limited to the following:

• Monarch of Decay:
  • End of the River of Time counters Death.
    • The Monarch of Decay can use the End of the River of Time symbolism to delay Death until the end of time, leaving the present unaffected.

• Supernova Dominator:
  • "He" has some resistance against the Death symbolism.
    • "He" cannot be killed instantly by the Death symbolism because "His" massive size is much larger than the instant symbolic influence range, making the symbolism need a certain period of time to take its effect on "Him". Essentially, this is Reality resisting and dissipating Mysticism, one of the lower manifestations of the Reality characteristics.

• Mother Goddess of Depravity:
  • Sovereign of Reality counters Death.
    • Reality resists and dissipates Mysticism. For the Mother Goddess of Depravity who wields the symbol of Reality, even though "She" doesn't have a size larger than the instant symbolic influence range, mechanism-wise, "She" cannot be killed by the Eternal Darkness.

• Lord of Mysteries:
  • King of Space-Time mutually counteracts Space-Time-in-One depending on the occasion and circumstances, with the Space-Time-in-One being slightly more dominant.

Mythical Creature Form

NOTE

This Mythical Creature Form is taken from Amanises, who is the only Eternal Darkness in existence.

An extraordinarily massive female figure clad in a layered but unadorned black gown, with an iron crown upon "Her" head and a thin veil covering Her face, rendering "Her" features indistinct yet imbued with a tranquil beauty. "Her" body was studded with points of starlight. Pale wings sprouted from "Her" back, while two short, darkly furred arms each extended from under "Her" ribs and armpits, clutching a dusk-orange greatsword and a black, night-like scythe. "Her" exposed forearms and hands appeared like sculpted jade, cradled an illusory book formed of coiled feathered serpents.

Advancement Condition

Aside from the general advancement condition for all Above the Sequence, since the River of Eternal Darkness was influenced and fused by generations of Dao Integrators from the Haoli Lineage, one could reach an agreement with the Underworld Daoist, accept the position of the next Haoli Sect Master, and made an oath to the River of Eternal Darkness to strengthen the Haoli Lineage in the future. Subsequently, the lingering consciousnesses of the Dao Integrators from the Haoli Lineage would assist "Them" to accommodate the Sefirah.
