“ | It's said that even among those mad ancient gods, the Phoenix Ancestor, Gregrace, was particularly fond of stirring things up, much like the Blood Emperor Alista Tudor of the Fourth Epoch. |

— Maric on Circle of Inevitability, Chapter 771 |
The Phoenix Ancestor Gregrace is one of the Ancient Gods from the Second Epoch. "She" was a Sequence 0 Goddess of the Death Pathway. In addition, "She" also had authority over the Door Pathway.[1]
Appearance[]
"She" was a giant bird whose body was covered with feathers woven by pale flames and mysterious patterns. "Her" eyes look like they are made of bronze with layers of illusory doors hidden inside.[2]
History[]
According to the Myth of Creation, "She" and the rest of the phoenixes were formed from the hair of the Original Creator.[3]
According to Azik Eggers, the Underworld was created by Phoenix Ancestor Gregrace and exists in the Spirit World.[4] Amon revealed that Gregrace also had possessed part authority from the Door Pathway.[1] It is suspected that the Door authority was the reason why "She" was able to craft the Underworld.
"Her" divine kingdom was the City of Dead, which was renamed Calderón City by an angel of the Abraham Family. Ever since "She" opened up the Underworld, "Her" divine kingdom was moved there. The City of the Dead gradually became the holy grounds of "Her" descendants and believers, but none of its citizens ever came out again. "She" also left the clues about the River of Eternal Darkness in "Her" divine kingdom Calderón City.[5]
In the elves' chronicle, during the Early Era of Fire of the Second Epoch, the non-human races fought against the quasi-human races, devils and demonic wolves. This corresponds to the records of the City of Silver. "She", the Dragon of Imagination Ankewelt, and the Mutated King Kvastir were on one side, fighting together against the Giant King Aurmir, the Elf King Soniathrym, the Sanguine Ancestor Lilith, the Devil Monarch Farbauti, and the Annihilation Demonic Wolf Flegrea.[6]
According to records of the City of Silver, "She", along with the other ancient gods all lost "Their" godhood after the Ancient Sun God reclaimed "His" authorities from the ancient gods. However, the truth is Gregrace was heavily injured by the Ancient Sun God, and "Her" city was uprooted and thrown deep into the Spirit World.[7] Severely wounded, "She" fled to the Southern Continent and went into hiding.[8]
Only the Forsaken Land of the Gods still remembers the Phoenix Ancestor Gregrace. The rest of the world has already forgotten "Her" existence, as the god of the Death Pathway had been replaced by the Death Salinger.
After "Her" death, Salinger placed the body of the Phoenix Ancestor in the depths of the Underworld. "He" apparently thought it would be a waste to just destroy the body of an ancient god like that and believed it could serve a more important purpose, such as helping "Him" better and more completely control the Underworld or enabling "Him", as Death, to possess stronger power. "He" also claimed that the body of the Phoenix Ancestor held some secrets.[8]
It is later revealed that "Her" death imprint has sunk into the water of the River of Eternal Darkness.[2]
After the reigning Death was dead, one of the reasons for the original anomaly in the Underworld was the reanimation of the Phoenix Ancestor. It destroyed Death's palace, killed all of Death's Blessed present, and turned the depth of the Underworld into a Pale-White Nation. For a long time after the Underworld anomaly, the body of the Phoenix Ancestor still roamed the Pale-White Nation, keeping the high-ranked beings of the Death domain at bay. It has only fallen asleep in recent years. Aside from "Her" corpse, there is an egg below the belly of the Phoenix Ancestor,[9] allegedly currently incubating Omebella.[8]
