“ | Your fate lies on the main peak of the Hornacis mountain range. |
„ |
— Bernadette Gustav to Gehrman Sparrow on Lord of Mysteries, Chapter 662 |
The Hornacis Mountain Range is located on the Central of the Northern Continent. It serves as a border between the Loen Kingdom and the Intis Republic. Its main peak is six thousand meters above sea level.[2]
History[]
Fourth Epoch[]
The First Solomon Empire once ruled the Hornacis Mountain Range, and its capital city was the beginning point of this place. After the fall of the First Solomon Empire and the collapse of the Tudor-Trunsoest United Empire, which once replaced the Solomon Empire, the Tudor Empire and the Trunsoest Empire used the Hornacis Mountain Range as the dividing line.
Nation of the Evernight[]
In the Fourth Epoch, there existed a Nation of the Evernight at the main peak of Hornacis Mountain Range. They believed in the Ruler of the Evernight, the Mother of the Sky. Later the nation and Antigonus Family were eliminated by the Church of the Evernight Goddess. Antigonus, the sequence 1 angel, went mad and escaped to a palace at Hornacis Mountain peak, and stayed there ever since. There are also rumors about Antigonus Family Treasure being buried here, which has attracted many adventurers to die there.
Notable Places and Location[]
Foggy Town[]
“ | This place isn’t the real or spirit world, nor is it the astral world. It’s in some kind of secret, hidden state. |
„ |
— Panatiya on Lord of Mysteries, Chapter 833 |
Foggy Town is where the Sealed Artifact 0-17 sent people to after erasing them, it is connected to Hornacis Mountain through a sealed door. Although victims sent there have been confirmed to be alive through divination, all attempts to locate them have failed, it was only possible to confirm they were not free.[3]
This place is also connected to the Sea of Ruins, due to the remnant lingering authorities left over from the battle between the Ancient Sun God and the members of Rose Redemption. Those who do not sleep when night falls in the Sea of Ruins are also transported here. This is suspected to be caused by the authority of the Evernight Goddess. Everything in this dimension is blocked from the outside world including the Spirit World as well as the Sefirah Castle.
In this alternate world of perpetual night, a deserted town lies under a crimson moon, often obscured by fog. Signs of sudden abandonment—half-eaten food and empty homes—fill the town. It's believed that consuming the food would turn the individual into a marionette, their spirit body threads tied to the mad King of Angels, Half-Fool Antigonus.
Inside the cathedral, marionettes of various ages and eras hang by their spirit body threads, muttering the words "Hornacis... Flegrea..." Anyone entering the cathedral risks having their own spirit body threads drawn toward the dome, potentially becoming another suspended puppet. Only a Sequence 5 Marionettist or higher Beyonder of the Fool Pathway can resist this fate by controlling their own or others' threads.[4]
When the crimson moon is unobstructed, the marionettes roam the streets, reenacting daily life with eerie growls. Attracting their attention is highly dangerous, with even powerful beings like Mr. A and Lady Despair avoiding them when the moon shines fully.
At the back of the cathedral lies a sealed door, unlockable by inserting an obsidian stone and inscribing a specific symbol. Carving the symbol of the Antigonus Family leads directly to the throne of the mad Half-Fool Antigonus, instantly transforming the individual into a marionette. However, inscribing the Dark Sacred Emblem of the Evernight Goddess opens a passage out of Foggy Town, leading to a distant peak in the Hornacis mountain range.
