Ince Zangwill was a former Archbishop in the Church of the Evernight Goddess and a Gatekeeper who failed in his promotion. He defected from the church with 0-08: Quill of Alzuhod. He exchanged to Nightwatcher of the Darkness Pathway after stealing Saint Selena's Ashes.

Appearance

His hair was dark blonde and his pupils were so blue that it was nearly black. He had a high nose and his lips were tightly pursed. His facial features were like a classic sculpture without any wrinkles. The most striking characteristic was that he was blind in one eye.

Personality

He was cautious and careful, enjoys scheming in the shadows and setting traps. He pursued his goals relentlessly, disregarding the sacrifices of the innocent.

Driven by ambition, he fearlessly plotted to hunt down high-ranking deacons in retaliation against the Church of the Evernight Goddess. Despite being hunted by them, he remained resolute in his determination to make the Church pay the price.

History

With the help of 0-08, Ince schemed to steal Saint Selena's Ashes in order to switch from a Gatekeeper of the Death Pathway to a Nightwatcher of the Darkness Pathway, which eventually caused the death of Dunn Smith and Klein Moretti. He helped Lanevus in secret. He split off half a piece of a descendant of Death's characteristic that he obtained from Lamud Town and planted it into Megose's body ahead of time.

After successfully advanced to a demigod, Ince traveled to Backlund. For the Great Smog of Backlund, he cooperated with Demoness Sect and the royal family, they manipulated Trissy as a target and almost killed Sherlock Moriarty with a meteor. When underground altar was destroyed. Ince and an Imperative Mage engaged in a battle with Azik Eggers, but struggled to gain the upper hand. Eventually, they were compelled to banish Azik and took measures to conceal any evidence to prevent the church from finding him.

He suffered greatly from the side effect of 0-08, which was always trying to kill its owner. This caused him many problems in fighting and haunted by the Evil Spirit of Williams Street. His haunting even forced him to travel to Bansy Harbor.

Later, he headed for the Southern Continent, Ince met with Hand of White Palenque Taciblius of the Numinous Episcopate, hoping to obtain their help in exorcising the evil spirit. And in an attempt to set up a trap to hunt Ilya for his advancement, to prove to everyone that the Church of Evernight had made a foolish mistake to abandon him back then.

He was killed by Klein with the help of Leonard and Daly, as well as the Author Adam behind the scenes manipulating the stage. Ince's death allowed Klein to complete his ritual and promote to Sequence 4: Bizarro Sorcerer.
