— Intis Republic’s political slogan[2] on Circle of Inevitability, Chapter 127 |
One of the four major nations located on the West of the Northern Continent. It was founded by the Sauron Family in the Fourth Epoch after the Trunsoest Empire was destroyed.
As of 1358 of the Fifth Epoch, the Intis Republic is the second-strongest nation on the Northern Continent after the Loen Kingdom, followed by the Feynapotter Kingdom and the Feysac Empire.
It was originally the Intis Kingdom, but was overthrown by Roselle Gustav. After repeated changes, it was finally established as a Republic system, with a parliament ruling the country.
It had two main religions: The Church of the Eternal Blazing Sun and the Church of the God of Steam and Machinery. Later the Church of the Fool are allowed to preach, but are limited.
The most notable Beyonders are of the Red Priest, Demoness, Fool, Sun, and Paragon Pathway.
Geography[]
The Intis Republic is situated in the heart of the western part of the Northern Continent. Bordered to the west by the Fog Sea, to the north by the Feysac Empire which is separated by Fog Sea Province, to the east by the Loen Kingdom which is separated by the Hornacis Mountain Range and Midseashire lake, and to the south by the Feynapotter Kingdom, Lenburg, and Masin.[3]
The biggest river in the Intis Republic was Srenzo River and Ryan River, passing through the capital, Trier.
History[]
Fourth Epoch[]
During the rule of the Blood Emperor, The entirety of today's Intis Republic was a part of Tudor Empire.[4]
After the War of the Four Emperors, the Northern Continent was divided among the Angel Families of the destroyed Trunsoest Empire. The Sauron Family established and became the royal family of the Intis Kingdom.
Fifth Epoch[]
Sometime after 642, the Intis Kingdom fought a war, namely White Rose War. During this war, Loen defeated Intis.
In 738, the Loen Kingdom and the Intis Kingdom seized the opportunity of the Battle of the Violated Oath in Feynapotter Kingdom to start a war in the name of protecting freedom of religion. In the late stages of the war, the Feysac Empire joined the fray and attempted to destroy the ploy by Loen and Intis. However, they still failed to turn the situation around.
The Industrial Revolution started with the transmigration of Huang Tao as Roselle Gustav. He invented the steam engine, improved sailboats, and had countless inventions based on his memory. The improvement of steam engine cultivated the growing number of pirates and the birth of steamship. The God of Craftsmanship changed "His" name to the God of Steam and Machinery to share in the progress of the enlightenment of civilization,
Roselle Gustav eventually overthrew the Sauron Family with the help of Zaratul and formed the Intis Republic and became its consul in 1173. Roselle led the Republic into victory in several wars against its neighbors. Eventually, at the end of 1192, Roselle converted the Republic into an Empire, declaring himself ‘Emperor Caesar’.
Starting at 1194, after Emperor Roselle of Intis discovered a new safer sea route to the Southern Continent. This discovery jumpstarted the colonization of the Southern Continent, which was also known as the invasion of the Northern Continent. The Southern Continent then was divided by the Loen Kingdom and the Intis Republic. Intis and Loen both had colonies West Balam and were constantly fighting against each other, while the Feysac Empire also have deep influence there trying to get a piece of the cake.[5]
After the assassination of Emperor Roselle in 1198, Intis suffered several great shocks but ultimately managed to maintain a stable republican system establishing itself as the Intis Republic again.
During the years 1350-1352, a world war erupted on the Northern Continent, beginning with the Feysac Empire's attack on the Loen Kingdom. At the start of the conflict, the Intis Republic remained silent. However, after the assassination of George Augustus III, the Loen Kingdom accused the assassin of being from either Feysac or Intis.[6] Subsequently, Intis used the excuse of conflicts in the borders of the Hornacis Mountain Range to amass a large number of troops and attack the Loen Kingdom.[7] Despite their efforts, Intis eventually lost in the world war.
To compensate for their actions, Intis paid reparations to Loen, providing them with plenty of food.[8] However, this influx of food caused the price in Trier to skyrocket, leading to riots and protests. In response, the government decided to abolish tariffs on all food.[9][10]
Subsequently, the Intis Republic also had to withdraw from several of its colonies in West Balam, such as Matani.[11]
Politics[]
Currently, Intis operated as a parliamentary republic, where members of parliament represented various constituencies and formed The National Convention, comprising over 300 members, served as the governing body. This assembly had the authority to appoint the president, prime minister, and ministers, although their decisions required approval from the Convention.[12]
The National Convention held significant powers, including legislation, declaring war, and determining the government's budget. Each member of parliament held considerable influence and authority within the system.
According to Intis law, anyone residing in a constituency for at least six months and having a job or attending university possessed the right to register and vote in that district.[13]
Every member of parliament has signed a contract with the two Churches of Intis and received a notarized contract. In this contract, they pledge their faith, display their abilities and associated sources. On the other side, the two Churches promise not to restrict the personal freedom of any member of parliament or their key staff without substantial and compelling evidence. They won't be subject to the influence of Beyonders. This is to safeguard the authority of the National Convention and a byproduct of the past coup d'état.[14]
Within the National Convention, around one-tenth of the members were former nobles, and they were led by the Sauron family, once part of the royal lineage. The remaining seats were allocated based on the economic status of provinces and territories, with a focus on the prosperous Greater Trier Region.
- Trier, a city in the Greater Trier Region, was unparalleled in terms of population and economic strength in Intis. It held nearly 40 seats in the National Convention.
- These approximately 40 seats were distributed among 20 districts, with each district accommodating varying numbers of representatives, ranging from one member of parliament to four or five. These representatives also held ex officio positions as councilors in the City Council.
- At the present, the National Party, Enlightenment Party, and Revolutionary Party were preparing for the upcoming National Convention elections. The party that secured a majority would rule, otherwise, coalitions would be formed. The Emperor Party and Carbonari sought change through force, discontent with the current system. The elections would shape Intis' political landscape.
Military[]
Of all the nations of the Northern Continent, the Loen Kingdom was the strongest, with the Intis Republic close behind.[3]
The military of the Intis Republic is mainly in control of the Red Priest Pathway, while the Intis intelligence Department is in control of the Fool Pathway up to Sequence 4, Bizarro Sorcerer.
Intis Intelligence and Homeland Security Committee[]
The Special Services Bureau (Bureau 7)[]
The department responsible for providing basic protection to members of parliament and high-ranking government officials.[15]
Bureau 8[]
The military's special department of the Intis. It's an official organization in the domain of the Beyonders, the hidden intelligence, and the secret service.[16]
Domestic Law Enforcement[]
Beyonder related incidents and crimes are handled by the Bureau 8, Inquisition and Machinery Hivemind.
Each region of the Intis Republic has one or several guardian angels or saints. They may come from the classics of the Church of the Eternal Blazing Sun, the Church of the God of Steam and Machinery or they belong to the history of Intis, the kind who made special contributions, are widely known and are recognized by the two major churches.[17]
Similar to Feysac and Lenburg, the Intis Republic is less radical in its marriage laws. Unlike the Loen Kingdom, Intisian culprits who committed adultery do not need to pay a financial price during a legal divorce of properties.[18]
Domestic Disputes[]
Since Emperor Roselle's demise, the two Churches, parliament, the government, the military, and Bureau 8 have been embroiled in conflicts. Each has amassed considerable combat experience that would not be deemed aboveboard in any other context. Trier, as the heart of the country, is the place where conflict occurs most often.[19]

Intisians have lower average lifespan than the Feynapotter Kingdom's, whose many Feynapotterians lived beyond the age of 70.[21]

- Lent Celebration: A widespread festival across Intis, people welcome the coming of spring in various forms and pray for a good harvest. Although it had nothing to do with the Church of the Eternal Blazing Sun or the Church of the God of Steam and Machinery, it had already turned into folklore and didn’t involve the worship of pagan deities. Therefore, it had gained the tacit approval of the orthodox factions.[22]
Society[]
The Intisians are known to be "open-minded" in their sexual relations. The prevalence of adultery is common in Intis.[23]
Common Trait Intisians men: When not engaged in demanding work and surrounded by attractive women, they turned into preening peacocks, desperate to display their prowess. Becoming a Beyonder didn't change that fundamental nature.[24]
The café holds a unique status. It’s the birthplace of riots, the sanctuary of conspiracies, and the wellspring of scandals. Throughout Intisian history, innumerable riots had been sparked in cafés, and countless literary works and political struggles had brewed within them. Be they former nobles, current members of parliament, high-ranking government officials, financiers, bankers, industrialists, renowned authors, newspaper editors, military generals, or university professors, everyone enjoyed frequenting different cafés to engage in spirited conversations, presenting a more approachable side to the public. After all, the Republic’s political slogan and image were built upon “freedom, equality, and fraternity.”
Outside Trier, people often referred to the Intis government as Trier.[25]
The Intis citizens who were discriminated against were Islanders from the Fog Sea Archipelago (Because they are a colonial nation), reemians from the south of Intis, and savoyards from the east (Because they were in the Intis border region).[26]
Language[]
The common language of the Intis Republic is Intisian language.
Originated from the Ancient Feysac language, which is the root of the language of the Northern Continent. They shared many similarities in sentence structure, meaning, grammar, and word structure.
Religion[]
The main orthodox religion is the Church of the Eternal Blazing Sun. The country could also be referred to as the Kingdom of the Sun. The Church of the God of Steam and Machinery also have a big influence in the Republic, particularly in large cities and industrial areas.[27]
The two churches generally kept a good relationship with each other and collaborated on many major events. Their Beyonder teams dealt with local cases involving local believers.
The Fool's faith is very popular at sea, many merchants, sailors, bounty hunters, and treasure seekers at sea beliefs in him. The Fool's followers are often encountered at docks and port cities in Intis. Later, for certain reasons, the Church of the Eternal Blazing Sun and the Church of the God of Steam and Machinery agreed to construct a small cathedrals at Lavigny Docks, Trier and Port Farim, Fog Sea Archipelago for The Fool's Church, allowing passing sea merchants to offer their prayers. However, proselytizing or preaching outside the cathedral is strictly prohibited. Most commoners are unaware of its existence.[28][29]

Trivia[]
- According to the author's interview, the Intis Republic is based on France approximately between the 1850s and 1890s. There were many professional conspirers at that time who were discussing overthrowing the First French Empire, the First Republic, etc. (alternating empires and republics). It's full of instigation, turmoil, and subversion—a very good background for Hunters to develop in.[43]
- There is a widely-spread proverb in the Intis Republic which says "Trust a Loenese over a Reemian. Trust a snake over a Reemian, but never trust the Islanders."[34]
- In Intis, the lion is often used to describe alluring men due to their radiant mane, akin to the sun.[37]
- In Intis, upon discovering a lifeless body, whether reporting to the governmental authorities or the two major churches, individuals would receive compensation 1 verl d'or for promptly ensuring purification or cremation.[44]
- Many people in Intis have become Pyromaniacs, yet many Pyromaniacs have also perished.[45]
- Demonesses thrived in Intis, especially in Trier. This wasn't just due to the city's underground allure; there was a deeper, more harmonious connection with the society at large.[24]
