“ | That’s simple. Because I’m no longer just Lanevus. [...] Now, I’m even more of the True Creator! |

— Lanevus to Crestet Cesimir on Lord of Mysteries, Chapter 286 |
Lanevus was a wanted swindler who scammed a lot of investment money. He was a Beyonder of the Error Pathway.
Appearance[]
He had a plump forehead, black hair, brown eyes, and a pair of spectacles with almost round lenses. He smirked faintly, looking as though he was mocking everyone. Besides that pair of spectacles, Lanevus didn’t seem to have any obvious traits and looked really ordinary.[5]
History[]
Lanevus was first mentioned at the Divination Club Klein Moretti worked in. A man came asking if his investment in a large-scale steel mine would be profitable,[6] which was actually the scam that Lanevus was running.[7]
Lanevus's hidden lunacy and swindling ability were well appreciated by Sirius Arapis. Sirius told him about the ritual to bring the spawn of the True Creator into the world. While Lanevus didn't truly believe in Sirius, he didn't expose him. Lanevus visited Hood Eugen, beguiled, and used him to assist in his ritual. They tricked Megose, to become the vessel that would carry the True Creator's spawn. Unaware, Ince Zangwill helped them behind, he split off half a piece of a descendant of Death's characteristic that he obtained and planted it into Megose's body ahead of time. After the ritual succeeded, Lanevus regained his rationality and decided to leave Tingen ahead of time and left clues to the officers.[8]
The Death of Lanevus[]
In fact, The True Creator not only initiated the descent of his spawn but also secretly planted a ‘sapling’ in Lanevus's body. After Lanevus reached Backlund, True Creator suddenly combined with the ‘sapling’ in his body, which made him become the vessel of the True Creator.
Lanevus was found and captured by the members of the Aurora Order. He instigated a strike to get the police to notice him, but he was stopped by someone from the Aurora Order. After being tortured, he could only hastily end it. He acted as though he was on the brink of losing control and gained the opportunity to head into the sewers to vent. During this process, he secretly used his blood to corrupt the creatures living in there, turning them into terrifying mutated monsters, but it was discovered by the Aurora Order. A member of theirs died under a mutated monster, probably the one who sold the black ear Klein used to make the Language of Foulness. After that he was controlled strictly by them. He killed a prostitute and used the cruelest method to attract the attention of the police, but the people of the Aurora Order disguise the case as part of series of serial murders. Finally, he took the initiative to request for the fiercest, craziest, most radical member of the Aurora Order to watch him.[9]
“ | Why… do you… want to… kill me… |
„ |
— Lanevus to Klein Moretti on Lord of Mysteries, Chapter 287 |
When Klein discovered Lanevus's whereabout and the situation, he alerted the Nighthawks through Miss Justice and managed to stop it before the descent of the True Creator.[10] Crestet Cesimir removed the True Creator's authority from Lanevus, however, Lanevus escaped into the sewer. Klein took the opportunity to kill him and successfully achieved one part of his revenge. Although, this action alerted the authorities to the presence of some mysterious Tarot master.[11]
