— Xio Derecha on Lord of Mysteries, Chapter 452 |
Mason Dere was the leader of the Household Guards Division and the captain of the royal guards. He was the father of Xio Derecha and Rio Derecha.
Personality[]
He was a really brave, noble, and just aristocrat, but he wasn’t that perfect. He was impulsive, eager, prone to anger…
History[]
The Dere family was once part of the aristocracy, even serving as an earl palatine during its heyday. From that moment on, the Dere family possessed the fief of a true earl, though it was less illustrious during the time of Mason Dere. Nevertheless, they retained the trust of the former king, Might-wielder William VI.[2]
Mason Dere became a captain of the royal guards which is equivalent to a MI9 deputy director that handles matters related to the royal family.[1]
However, in 1343, Mason Dere was accused of participating in a revolt and executed. The Dere family was stripped of their aristocratic title and fiefdom.[2]
According to Stratford, Mason Dere's former deputy, Mason discovered the king’s secret and attempted to inform the three Churches, but he was executed on the spot.[3]
