In conventional mysticism, the mirror world isn't a true world. It's an amalgamation of the concept of doors, connected to mirrors and alternate spaces.

The Mirror World is a collective manifestation of doors[1] connected to various mirror-like entities.[2] It has also been described as an amalgamation of the concept of doors, connected to mirrors and alternate spaces.[3] Strictly speaking, it is not a real world.[1]

Appearance[]

Ordinary Mirror Worlds consist of dark and illusory passageways connected to each other. Numerous of these tunnels intertwine, forming a complicated, mysterious, colossal and abstract “spider web” that is interwoven into a profound and strange “world.”[1][4] Each illusory path is connected to a mirror or an alternate mysterious space.[5]

Special Mirror Worlds, such as the ones in Fourth Epoch Trier and Morora, vary in appearance.[6][7]

Description[]

General Characteristics[]

The Mirror World is often associated with terror, mystery, horror, and the bizarre.[2] Under normal circumstances, even through “true vision,” there is no way to directly see a Mirror World unless someone triggers it.[1]

Each illusory path in the Mirror World is connected to a mirror or an alternate mysterious space.[5] By connecting to different mirrors and different mysterious kingdoms, if one becomes lost in there, they might directly appear in the Abyss, or even the Cosmos.[1]

The Mirror World is a treacherous space hiding many dangers. The dark, illusory paths forming it have been known to suddenly morph into massive vortexes, pulling anything caught in it to unknown mirrors. High-Sequence Beyonders of the Demoness and Door Pathways can navigate it relatively safely.[5]

The Mirror World is connected to the Spirit World. Abilites requiring the Spirit World, such as "Spirit World Traversal", can be activated in it, albeit in a restricted fashion.[5]

Relationship with Mirrors[]

In mysticism, mirrors are often given the symbolic meaning of leading to another “kingdom,” and are mostly related to terrifying horrors.[1] Mirrors possess distinct symbolic meanings, such as one’s reflection or an entrance to another realm. The former is the principle behind a Demoness' substitutes, while the latter alludes to the Mirror World.[2]

Each mirror has a corresponding area of the Mirror World behind it. They are connected by the illusory dark tunnels which form the Mirror World. Once a mirror surface shatters, the corresponding area behind the mirror would collapse with it. If the people and objects in that area are not able to escape in time through the mirror tunnels, they would be swallowed by the turbulence of the Mirror World and dragged into its depths. The dangers there are fatal for Beyonders without a complete Mythical Creature Form. Even for Angels with complete Mythical Creature forms, unless they are of the Door or the Demoness Pathway, the depths of the Mirror World are places they are reluctant to venture into lightly.[8][9]

When a mirror breaks, it essentially forms more but smaller mirrors. However, from a mystical concept, it is destroyed as a whole, completely losing its original symbolism and function. The new mirrors produced need time to evolve their own areas behind them, connect with the vast Mirror World, and become mirrors with complete concepts in mysticism. In other words, for a period of time, these mirror fragments cannot be used to reflect enemies, transmit curses, or traverse the Mirror World, though this doesn't affect Wraiths using them for mirror jumps.[9]

Aside from normal mirrors, mirror-like objects can also be treated as mirrors. This includes magic mirrors like Arrodes, which look like real mirrors on the surface.[10]

Related Pathways[]

The Pathways closely connected to the Mirror World are the Demoness, Chained and Door Pathways.[1]

Klein Moretti once speculated that the “secret” in Secrets Sorcerer of the Door Pathway might represent the Mirror World to some extent.[1] High-Sequence Beyonders of the Door Pathway can directly open illusory doors to the Mirror World without using a mirror.[11]

According to Clarice, the most unique node in the Demoness Pathway is Sequence 7 Witch. This isn't just because it changes gender but also because it leaves a strong, distinct imprint in the Mirror World. This imprint is what allows them to use mirror magic.[12] According to the Demoness Card of Blasphemy, the Sequence 0 of the Demoness Pathway, the Primordial Demoness, is the "ruler of the Mirror World".[13]

Trivia[]

  • Much like normal mirrors, Arrodes also has an entrance to the Mirror World behind it. However, this entrance is a bit different from other mirrors. The surrounding dark void was deeper, but it also seemed covered by an invisible cloth. Behind the cloth, pairs of eyes were watching, and inexplicable things were silently flowing.[10]
