Pallas Negan was the former Duke of Negan at the start of the story. He was Prime Minister Aguesid Negan's brother and the main supporter of the Conservative Party. He was one of the richest and most powerful aristocrats in the country with the largest land apart from the royal family. He is a truly important figure in the Loen Kingdom. After his death, his son became the new Duke of Negan.
Pallas Negan was also a Sequence 6 Beyonder of the Justiciar Pathway. He is a staunch believers of the Lord of Storms, and a key figure in the influence the Church of the Lord of Storms has on politics.
Appearance[]
He preferred to wear a military uniform on formal occasions, in remembrance of his decades of illustrious service while in the military.
Equipment[]
- A dark blue thumb-sized conch: It was a mystical item that the Church of the Lord of Storms had specially provided after his last assassination attempt by Qilangos. As long as he blew on it, Ace Snake would hear it and lock onto his position.[1]
History[]
Under the orders of the Twilight Hermit Order, Qilangos infiltrated a ball run by Pallas Negan to assassinate him, but Qilangos's disguise was seen through by Audrey Hall.[2] The guards were insufficient to block Qilangos's escape.
The attempted assassination caused Pallas Negan to adopt many safety measures. He acted upon an unpredictable schedule, moved the residences of his mistresses close to the Holy Wind Cathedral and obtained protection from the Church of the Lord of Storms. Notably, he was given a conch that would notify the Archbishop of the Church of the Lord of Storms, Ace Snake, whenever it was blown, and a Sequence 6 Wind-Blessed guard.[1]
Despite his extreme caution, he was assassinated by the Desire Apostle Jason Beria. According to the spirit of the Desire Apostle, it was a commission from the Twilight Hermit Order for the sake of a so-called “historical process,” with the payment being the Abyss Card of Blasphemy. Pallas Negan's secretary, Lockhart Siakam, a Sequence 5 Beyonder of the Black Emperor Pathway and member of MI9, was conspiring with the Twilight Hermit Order, likely the member responsible for divulging the Duke's location, although he pretended to be against the Desire Apostle during the assassination attempt.[3]
Pallas Negan’s death has divided the House of Lords. Nearly ten members of the House of Lords have jointly proposed that the newly conferred nobility should also have a chance to obtain a fixed seat as a Member of Parliament. This dispute has put many bills on hold, including, but not limited to, the raising of worker salary, the improvement of working hours, and revising the Poor Law.
