Portland Moment was a former professor at Backlund University’s Department of Engineering, and a fellow at the Loen Kingdom Imperial Science Institute. He is currently the chancellor of the Backlund University of Technology and also Melissa Moretti's teacher.

He was a Sequence 7 Appraiser of the Paragon Pathway.

Appearance

He has a big build. He was an elder in his sixties with a ruddy complexion and rather thick hair despite being all white. His facial features were the most classic features of a Loenese man with nothing that stood out.

Background

As he had discovered a few metal alloys, he had received the Light of Machinery award, and he was just second to people like Turani von Helmosuin in the world of academics. Furthermore, a few metal alloys were widely used in ship and steam engine construction. Just the licensing patent was enough to make him a tycoon with a wealth of hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Portland Moment is Dwayne Dantès's neighbor on Böklund Street. He is a believer in the God of Steam and Machinery. While his wife is a believer in the Evernight Goddess. Therefore, they had taken up residence in Böklund Street near Saint Samuel Cathedral. He often had bishops visiting him and having exchanges.

History

While Audrey Hall and Dwayne Dantès were visiting Backlund University of Technology as representatives of the Loen Charity Bursary Foundation, Chancellor Portland Moment invited them in for a conversation. During their meeting, Melissa Moretti unexpectedly entered the chancellor’s office, and Portland gave a brief introduction of her to Audrey and Dwayne.

Later, Portland visited the Loen Charity Bursary Foundation, expressing his wish to add a mechanical laboratory to the university. He inquired whether the foundation would be interested in making a donation or investment to support this initiative. He inquired if the foundation would be interested in donating or investing in the project. Klein and Audrey expressed their interest but noted they would need more information. After reviewing the information, Klein donated 10,000 pounds toward the laboratory. Just as the project was about to officially launch, however, war broke out.

According to Audrey Hall, Melissa won the favor of Portland Moment, and was given a chance to become a Beyonder. He wished for Melissa to become a Sequence 9 Savant so that she could better absorb the knowledge and improve her memory. This established a good foundation for her in her subsequent development in the mechanical domain.
