— Roselle's Diary on Lord of Mysteries, Chapter 217 |
Salinger or Death was a Sequence 0 God of the Death Pathway. "He" was a Subsidiary God of the Annihilation Demonic Wolf Flegrea and later the Phoenix Ancestor Gregrace, known as the God of the Dead in the Second Epoch. "He" founded and controlled the Balam Empire and was known as the Underworld Emperor. "He" use the River of Eternal Darkness distributary to fuse with the Red Priest Pathway Uniqueness to create a brand new Great Old One path. "He" became Half a Great Old One, but went mad as a result.[1][2]
"He" was killed by the Seven Orthodox Gods at the end of the Fourth Epoch/early of the Fifth Epoch.[3]

History[]
Second Epoch[]
In the Second Epoch, "He" was known as the God of the Dead Salinger and was a subsidiary god of the Annihilation Demonic Wolf Flegrea, but after Flegrea's death, "He" turned to the Phoenix Ancestor Gregrace's faction.[7]
Third Epoch[]
Some time during the Third Epoch, "He" managed to become a King of Angels of the Death Pathway. Afterwards, "He" joined Rose Redemption as a member of the Subsidiary Gods faction under the Evernight Goddess, which eventually caused Ancient Sun God's death.[5][8]
Fourth Epoch[]
During the beginning of the Fourth Epoch, "He" managed to advance to Sequence 0 and became known as Death. At that time, all deities had "Their" own countries in poorer places and acknowledged the first Solomon Empire and the Black Emperor Solomon's rule over the Northern Continent in order to fight against opposing factions. Death had a conflict with the Evernight Goddess and the God of Combat due to "Their" Eternal Darkness group adjacent pathways. For the sake of balance, the Black Emperor also didn’t attack the Southern Continent, and allowed Death to unite the plains and the ancient forest to build the Balam Empire.[9]
"He", along with the Black Emperor, Night Emperor, and Blood Emperor, participated in the War of the Four Emperors, and "He" was said to have benefited the most from the war since "He" gained the Red Priest Pathway Uniqueness. Afterwards, "He" planned to use the River of Eternal Darkness to fuse with the Red Priest Uniqueness to create a brand new Great Old One path. However, after over a century of "digestion", "He" still went mad, but also became stronger. "He" gained powers equivalent to Half a Great Old One.[10][2]
Near the end of the Fourth Epoch, Death and the Primordial Demoness joined forces to wreak havoc and create a catastrophe on the Northern Continent.[10] In the end, the Seven Gods joined forces to fight against "Them", resulting in the destruction of Death, the collapse of the Balam Empire and a power vacuum in the Southern Continent. "His" death also created the Berserk Sea that separates the Northern and Southern Continents, the Primordial Demoness was also heavily injured, and "She" has only managed to descend near the start of the story.[3]
Fifth Epoch[]
Resurrection Plan[]
The Eggers Family are the descendants of Death, including Azik Eggers, the son of Death. Before "He" perished, Death left a piece of "His" soul in Azik in order to resurrect in the future. Numinous Episcopate has also been trying to revive Death by creating an Artificial Death. However, "His" plan was destroyed by the Evernight Goddess absorbing the Uniqueness of the Death Pathway.[11] Henceforth, the Death pathway is now one of the authorities of the Evernight Goddess.
When Roselle created the Pale Death mask, "He" sensed that Death might not have completely perished, and might have left behind a hidden means of revival involving the River of Eternal Darkness.[12] It is later revealed that "His" death imprint was left wandering around the River. If another being manages to accommodate the Uniqueness of the Death Pathway, and if Death can’t use that opportunity to revive in "Their" body, "His" imprint will sink into the water of the River of Eternal Darkness and will further melt away.[13]
