King of the North, Ulyssan, is a ruler of the Nation of Frost, a powerful frost dragon at the quasi-demigod level.[1]

Appearance[]

He has a massive figure, and his wings are covered in a skin membrane. His illusory armored scales resemble frozen ice. His dragon eyes are violent and eerie-blue.[2] He emanates a crazy tyrannical aura.[3] He in his non-humanoid form is a metre taller than Groselle. His blood is blue-coloured.[4]

History[]

He was first described by Edwina Edwards as a character in Groselle's Travels — a ruler of the Nation of Frost, a powerful frost dragon.[1]

Ulyssan was faced by Groselle and company when a devout ascetic Snowman said in vain the true name of the Angel of Imagination, Adam.[3]

After an intense battle, the King of the North was defeated by Groselle and company, and his gigantic dragon corpse turned into a snow-laden heavy door that swung outwards — the door to the outside world.[5]

The World, Justice, and The Star discovered the mural depicting the King of the North during their exploration of Liveseyd, the divine kingdom of the Dragon of Imagination. Ulyssan's figure is depicted on the mural on the right side of the Hall of Truth, towards the end of the hall, close to the gigantic throne.[6]

Abilities[]

As a dragon from the Second Epoch, before the appearance of the Blasphemy Slate and the existence of pathways, Ulyssan wields powerful abilities related to the Frost domain:

Some dragons might gather many Beyonder characteristics related to frost, just like a Demoness’s frost, a Zombie’s frost, and a Weather Warlock’s frost. As such, it would possess rather powerful strength and a relatively high level. Of course, such a gathering would definitely lead to death and a loss of control. This means that if it doesn’t die, it would definitely lose control and become a monster. However, a dragon is a monster in and of itself.

  • Ice armor - Ulyssan has an illusory layer of ice that protects his real body;
  • Ice Breath - Ulyssan opens its mouth, silently spewing out a distorted icy-blue flame that freezes everything in its way;[2]
  • Wind control - Ulyssan can produce small hurricanes to push an enemy away;
  • Snowstorm - Ulyssan generates a snowstorm that reduces the visibility to less than a 5-metre radius;
  • Frost halo - an icy-blue halo rapidly extends outwards, clinging close to the ground, leaving frozen ice everywhere in its way as it passes. Any living being standing in its way turns into a frozen corpse;
  • Frozing - Light blue, almost white light surges out of the dragon. In a hundred-meter range, the temperature plummets. The temperature drop is followed by a fearsome force. All enemies in a hundred-metre range become sealed in ice. Their bodies become extremely cold, they turn very stiff. They couldn’t help but tremble;[4]
  • Ice beam - Ulyssan can emanate an icy-blue light beam from its mouth, freezing the targets on the beam's way, and turning them into ice sculptures.[5]

Furthermore, Ulyssan can use his physical characteristics in a battle:

  • Flying - as a dragon, Ulyssan can freely fly, using its wings;
  • Roar - Ulyssan produces a furious roar. The loud sonic boom drills into an enemy’s ears, making him stagger;[2]
  • Wound freezing - Ulyssan's blood freezes, stopping his wounds from worsening;
  • Squashing - Ulyssan can use his huge body and high weight to quash smaller creatures.[5]
