Clown is the first volume of the Lord of Mysteries series written by Cuttlefish That Loves Diving. It details the story of Klein Moretti as he first arrives in the world of Lord of the Mysteries, his becoming a Beyonder and his adventures with the Nighthawks.

Title Meaning

The meaning of the title Clown refers both to Klein's promotion to Sequence 8 Clown, as well as his inability to withstand the vicissitudes, yet still smiling and continuing along anyway.

In this volume, a clown is established to mean those who cannot do anything about their fate, yet continue to smile at it. Despite the many deaths that occur, Klein and the rest of the Nighthawks continue to confront their fates without becoming despondent, fulfilling the meaning of Clown.

Synopsis

In the early morning of June 28, 1349, Klein Moretti committed suicide, and left some writing on a notebook that said: ‘Everyone will die, including me.’

Zhou Mingrui, who used the Luck Enhancement Ritual on the earth transmigrated into Klein's body, but the inherited memory was incomplete.

After trying to return to the earth through the luck enhancement ritual, he entered The Gray Fog, a mysterious space.

He then accidentally summoned Audrey Hall and Alger Wilson above the Gray Fog.

Klein posed as "Mr. Fool" and established the Tarot Club to share and sell information and Beyonder ingredients.

Because of the Antigonus Family's Notebook, Klein joined the Blackthorn Security Company a division of Nighthawks as a civilian staff and shortly after became a Beyonder of the Fool Pathway. According to one of Roselle's Diary entries, Klein learned about the Acting Method and advanced to Clown through the church.

While in the Nighthawks, he encountered many coincidences all in a short span of time. Despite getting some idea that these coincidences were unnatural, it was too late for him when Ince Zangwill, the mastermind behind all the coincidences, caused the True Creator's spawn target Klein with Sealed Artifact 0-08.

He was killed along with Dunn Smith but mysteriously resurrected. Afterward, he moved to Backlund in a bid to get stronger and further improve his sequence, waiting for revenge.

Saturday, June 30, 1349	24-29	Klein met Azik Eggers at Tingen University. Benson Moretti returned home. A member of Secret Order sneaked into Klein's house and the incident was resolved by Dunn. Dunn gave Klein three options to become a Beyonder.
Monday, July 2, 1349	30-39	Klein became a Sequence 9, Seer of the Fool Pathway, and officially joined the Nighthawks as an active member. Tarot Club 2nd meeting. Klein first entered the Divination Club.
Tuesday, July 3, 1349	39-41	Klein official began his daily 2 hour mysticism lessons with Old Neil. Susie and Audrey Hall became Spectators of the Visionary Pathway. Alger promoted to the Seafarer.
Saturday, July 7, 1349	44-50	Klein dreamed of the Antigonus Family's Notebook. Klein, Dunn, Leonard, Old Neil, and Frye found Katy Stefania Bieber's body and confirmed the whereabouts of the Notebook. Klein joined the Divination Club.
Sunday, July 8, 1349	50-57	Klein began his Mysticism studies with Old Neil and experienced his 1st formal ritual. Klein received his 1st divination request at the Divination Club in the afternoon. Klein used Mandarin to temporarily write down his assumptions and suspicions concerning recent events, the world and mysticism.
Monday, July 9, 1349	58-63	Klein made up the honorable title of Mr. Fool. Tarot Club 3rd Meeting.
Tuesday, July 10, 1349	63-67	Klein learned more from the Blackthorn Security Company archives about various Sequence 9 to 7 Beyonders and Secret Organizations.
Wednesday, July 11, 1349	68-70	Klein and Old Neil went to the underground market in the evening. Klein first met Ademisaul and Elizabeth. Tris promoted to Witch and renamed to Trissy. Nighthawks failed to captured Tris(sy).
Thursday, July 12, 1349	70-80	Sealed Artifact 2-049 arrived in Tingen City. Dunn, Klein and Leonard set off with three Backlund Nighthawks to find Ray Bieber. They fought against the Suited Clown and Bieber. Nighthawks got the Antigonus Family's Notebook.
Friday, July 13, 1349	80-83	Klein did a divination that led to Lawson's Folk Herb Store. Klein applied to the Nighthawks to obtain materials to complete uncompleted protection amulets for Benson and Melissa.

Sunday, July 15, 1349	83-88	Klein, Benson, and Melissa went to Selena Wood's birthday banquet. Klein solved an incident related to magic mirror divination, and then reported it to Dunn Smith. Dunn and Leonard investigated Hanass Vincent. Dunn saw the True Creator in Hanass's dream. Hanass Vincent died.
Monday, July 16, 1349	88-95	Tarot Club 4th meeting. Klein heard Derrick Berg's prayer, he was only able to understand a few words like "father" and "mother."
Tuesday, July 17, 1349	96-97	Klein began learning the languages used in mysticism, especially Jotun and ancient Hermes. Klein began every afternoon from two to five for the next month, 3 hour combat training: basic strength, endurance, and overall coordination training, with his instructor, Gawain. Klein attended his team entrance party in the evening.
Wednesday, July 18, 1349	97-106	Klein received a rest day after his team entrance party the evening before. Klein returned to Khoy University, Azik found that Klein's fate was disharmonious. Klein divined above the gray fog and saw a house with a red chimney. Klein went to the library and met Sirius Arapis. Sirius Arapis killed. Klein used Spirit Channeling to obtain the Clown potion formula.
Thursday, July 19, 1349	106-107	Viscount Glaint introduced Fors Wall to Audrey. Fors asked Glaint and Audrey to help her friend Xio Derecha. Klein completed his combat training with Gawain by 5pm. Klein commissioned Detective Henry to find Daxter Guderian and the Red Chimney.
Friday, July 20, 1349	107	Klein's daily day.
Saturday, July 21, 1349	107-112	Klein's shift for the Chanis Gate. Misfortune Cloth Puppet showed him a symbol (that was proven to be related to the Antigonus Family). Klein heard Derrick Berg's 2nd prayer with his beginner-level Jotun. Audrey discovered that Susie can speak.
Monday, July 23, 1349	112-116	Klein went to Khoy University. Azik asked Klein to help him find his past. Tarot Club 5th meeting. Klein no longer hears Derrick Berg's prayer to save his parents, indicating they are in a fatalistic situation. Glacis and Christina take Megose to the Divination Club, asked Klein to divine Lanevus's whereabout.
Tuesday-Friday, July 24-27, 1349	116-117	Klein obtained the name of the doctor who looked for Spectator ingredients during his previous visit to the Evil Dragon Bar. His name is Daxter Guderian.
Saturday, July 28, 1349	117	Klein, a Probationary Inspector, visited the Greenhill Mental Asylum to see Daxter as an informant from the Psychology Alchemists. He learned about Hood Eugen.
Sunday-Tuesday, July 29-August 14, 1349	118	Tarot Club 6th, 7th, and 8th meetings conducted on July 30, August 6 and August 13, 1349 respectively. Gawain advanced combat training to the next stage for Klein, now daily 2 hours of training exercising, power usage and footwork. Leonard, Klein and Frye investigated the cause of the death cases in Tingen City. They found an evil altar in a house. Nighthawks attacked Trissy's sacrifice altar, Trissy escaped. Nighthawks discovered the secret of the Witch.

Thursday, August 16, 1349	126-132	Klein digested the Seer potion. Klein and Old Neil resolved the Rampager incident at the underground market, therefore, Klein could not divine Ademisaul. Audrey, with Glaint, was invited to her first Beyonder gathering (Mr. A's) by Fors and Xio, located in Empress Borough.
Friday-Saturday, August 17-18, 1349	132	Klein had the Saturday night shift at the Chanis Gate.
Sunday, August 19, 1349	132-141	Klein finally divined Ademisaul at the Evil Dragon Bar. Elizabeth went to the Divination Club and found Klein. She requested Klein to interpret her nightmare. Dunn, Frye and Klein went to Lamud Town to purify the Black Knight. Klein found the portrait of the first baron who resembled Azik Eggers. Derrick Berg joined the Tarot Club. Klein divined the origin of the Mutated Sun Sacred Emblem. Klein was tested into a Nightmare by Dunn.
Monday, August 20, 1349	141-148	Tarot Club 9th meeting. With the empowerment of Sefirah Castle, Klein's improving Jotun allows the Tarot Club members to communicate with each other like a real time translator. Daly contacted Klein through her messeger, Klein's 1st messenger.
Tuesday, August 21, 1349	148-152	Klein hinted to Dunn about the Acting Method. Klein and Azik returned to Lamud Town. They discovered that the skull of the black armor disappeared. Klein asked Azik to create some paranormal cases. Klein was again tested into a Nightmare set by Dunn.
Wednesday, August 22, 1349	152-153	Audrey met Xio at Philip's Department Store to hire her and Fors to investigate for the appearance of Qilangos. Xio and Fors accepted Audrey's investigation task.
Thursday, August 23, 1349	153	Another daily day of Klein: learning about mysticism, practicing his shooting, and getting tortured by Gawain, finally continued his investigation of red chimney houses. Klein's suspected last day of receiving mysticism lessons from Old Neil.
Friday, August 24, 1349	153	Klein reported to the Divination Club in the afternoon his future lesser appearances at the Club. Klein received a letter from Azik that reports he will be heading to Morse Town on Sunday, August 26 and return on Wednesday, August 29.
Saturday, August 25, 1349	153-156	Klein wrote in the afternoon a Special Application about his completed potion digestion and the request for the Clown potion. Klein, increased his mysticism language studies to learn ancient terminology. Klein and Dunn were invited by Doctor Daxter Guderian to the Zouteland Street Shooting Club at 2pm to talk about Hood Eugen. Klein was in charge of the shift at Chanis Gate until Sunday morning.
Sunday, August 26, 1349	156-157	Klein on his siblings and Elizabeth's advice hired a maidservant. Xio contacted Isengard Stanton at Hillston Borough to profile Qilangos.
Monday, August 27, 1349	157-159	Tarot Club 10th meeting. Klein increased his Jotun studies to learn ancient terminology with "Comparison of Ancient and Modern Names" to conveniently translate potion formulas exchanged in the meetings. Derrick became a Bard of the Sun Pathway.
Tuesday, August 28, 1349	160-162	Klein officially confirms the end of his Mysticism Studies. Klein, Leonard, and Kenley White went to Morse Town with the Mutated Sun Sacred Emblem. Klein used the Mutated Sun Sacred Emblem to create the Flaring Sun Charm.
Wednesday, August 29, 1349	162-165	Old Neil lost control and died by the Nighthawks' Peaceful Hair Strands.
Thursday, August 30, 1349	165	The Blackthorn Security Company's Nighthawks bury Old Neil in Raphael Cemetery at 9am. Klein vented his depression on the afternoon shooting range and in Gawain's combat exercises.
Friday, August 31, 1349	165-171	Klein passed the examination by Crestet Cesimir, touched the sword, and swore to the Evernight Goddess not to disclose information on the Acting Method. Klein promoted to Clown. Azik gave Klein the Copper Whistle, then returned to Backlund. Gawain advised Klein about loss and his next stage combat training after a few weeks.
Saturday, September 1, 1349	171	Klein was promoted, his position at the police department has risen from probationary inspector to inspector. Klein worked with Inspector Tolle on the Maynard case, meeting Madam Sharon. Klein met Daxter at the shooting range and learned of Hood Eugen's true decent into insanity as well as his relationship with Lanevus.

Monday, September 3, 1349	176-183	Audrey had already digested the Spectator potion. Fors and Xio found themselves in danger when investigating Qilangos and escaped through the Traveler Bracelet. Tarot Club 11th meeting.
Tuesday, September 4, 1349	183-184	Klein reported the present condition of Hood and his hidden relationship with Lanevus. Klein had the Chanis Gate night shift.
Wednesday, September 5, 1349	184-187	Klein and Dunn sneaked into the lunatic asylum, to find Hood Eugen. Klein saw the True Creator via a mediumship ritual. Eugen lost control and was killed by Dunn.
Thursday, September 6, 1349	187-192	Klein was tasked by Dunn to investigate people related to Lanevus. Qilangos disguised himself as Baron Gramir to participate in the ball of Pallas Negan, his true identity was noticed by Audrey. Audrey informed Klein and Alger about the situation Qilangos failed to assassinate Duke Negan and was killed by Azik Eggers, who took his Creeping Hunger.
Friday, September 7, 1349	192-202	Mrs. Maynard commissioned the Blackthorn Security Company to investigate Madam Sharon. It was the last day Klein contacted Gawain. Klein's combat training was suspended by Dunn for next week. It was two days since QIlangos died and Klein heard of Creeping Hunger from Azik. Klein sneaked into Madam Sharon's house and found the statue of the Primordial Demoness. After his report, Dunn, Klein, and Kenley went to capture Madam Sharon. Kenley was affected by the Spirit Medium's Mirror and subsequently got killed by Madam Sharon Klein killed Madam Sharon Klein saw Dunn consuming Kenley's remains. Klein sent a letter to Daly and Azik each to question Dunn's behavior.
Saturday, September 8, 1349	202-203	Klein learned about "The Return of the Count" starting its ticket sells. Tarot Club 12th meeting was postponed next week in compassion for Audrey's and Alger's request leave. Klein received a reply from Azik about Mutants.

Monday-Friday, September 10-14, 1349	211	Dunn's and Klein's autopsy. The Church of the Evernight Goddess, Red Gloves, Mandated Punishers and Machinery Hivemind cleaned up the messes that week. The Moretti family, Daly Simone and Azik Eggers learned of the deaths.
Saturday, September 15, 1349	211-213	Dunn's and Klein's funeral. Klein resurrected that night and exited his tomb
Sunday, September 16, 1349	213-214	Benson and Melissa visited the circus. The clown gave them a golden flower. Klein left for Backlund.
