Queen of Calamity Cohinem to Alger Wilson
on Lord of Mysteries, Chapter 1185

The Western Continent is the rumored homeland of the Elves and is the East Asia continent that was sealed away from the rest of the world by The Celestial Worthy of Heaven and Earth in the First Epoch. A gray fog covers the sky and the earth, like an invisible barrier preventing any living creature from passing through.[1]

The Celestial Worthy of Heaven and Earth also sealed 7 out of 9 Sefirot (except the Sefirah Castle and the Chaos Sea) in this continent. The seal weakened when The Fool gained complete control over Sefirah Castle and entered a state of eternal slumber, creating a weak spot that allows one to enter and exit.

It is the only location on Earth by the Fifth Epoch to have intelligent beings who follow a completely separate system different from the potion system established by the Blasphemy Slate. However, Beyonder Characteristics still exists.[2]

History[]

The main foundation of The Celestial Worthy of Heaven and Earth's faith. "He" left the main chunk of "His" followers on the Western Continent to guard the seven Sefirah. "He" sealed only a small portion of the world’s Beyonder Characteristics in that land so that the people of the Western Continent could never ascend to higher sequences and would be eternally enslaved. As mere ants in "His" perspective, they naturally wouldn’t be able to affect "His" plans either positively or negatively. With the passing generations, the brutal and barbaric comprehension of the 22 Pathways improved to become beings, such as Underworld Daoist and Celestial Master, who could shake "His" future plans as seen in The Fool's Dream.[3]

Legends have it that for certain reasons, the Elf King Soniathrym led "His" race from the legendary Western Continent to settle in the Northern Continent.[4]

The Ancient Sun God ordered the Moon City to watch over the grayish-white fog. The mission for them was to see if anyone walked out of the fog and to think of a way to pass through the fog.[1]

In the Fourth Epoch, the Western Continent remained a rumor. At some point, in the Forsaken Land of the Gods, the High Priest of the Moon City attempted to treat the fog as a great existence and designed rituals to pray at the fog; he eventually received some feedback in form of incomprehensible voices from the fog, but the feedback was not always guaranteed in their subsequent rituals and did not follow any patterns.

In the Fifth Epoch, Roselle speculated on the existence of a Western Continent beyond the Fog Sea and an Eastern Continent beyond the Sonia Sea. However, Roselle's following expedition led him to Abyss instead.[5] On the date of Zhou Mingrui's "transmigration", a small hill simply disappeared near the fog and left behind a crater. The Moon City sent out their investigation team and encountered a Dark Demonic Wolf of olden times, but it left in a hurry.

During her encounter with Alger, Queen of Calamity Cohinem claimed that the Western Continent will definitely appear again when The Apocalypse happens.[6]

After listening to the stories from people of the Moon City, Klein gave their ritual a try and received some feedback after some delay. It turns out that the voices had been chanting The Celestial Worthy of Heaven and Earth's honorific names in Simplified Chinese. Klein decided to chant the complete incantation of the luck enhancement ritual, which gave rise to ripples on the gray fog. The ripples formed a "door", but the "door" couldn't take shape as the ripples eventually died down.[7]

During Project Vortex in 1359, using the Magic Wishing Lamp and the Genie inside it as a medium, a gap was temporarily opened by Amon, allowing Black Emperor Roselle Gustav infiltration and resonance with "His" corresponding Sefirah. "He" temporarily acessed the Nation of Disorder to balance "His" corruption.[8]
